View Full Version : Audigy 1 problem

I have an Audigy 1. I tried the drivers off the original cd-rom(VXD), they work but no hardware sound support, so I download the drivers off the creative website(the VXD drivers), they have hardware sound support but there where sounds that would repeat, and odd echoing using those. So I downloaded the WDM(win2k) Audigy 2 drivers, they have perfect hardware sound support, work perfectly in UT2k3, but in my other games (tribes 2..etc) when EAX 2 in enabled performance is fine for a couple minutes then it starts to degrade, the more sounds that are happening at once it slows the machine right down where theres pausing, like the sound lagging behind. I never had this problem with my Sound blaster Live! value. Can anyone help me with this?

I think that if you had 2k/XP it would solve a lot of your problems. Windows 98SE is just getting too old. Hardware support for the NT based OS's has been superb as far as my experience goes.

Are you just saying you installed WDM drivers over the VXD creatives? If thats the case, thats a big NO NO. It will cause more problems than help. When you install the drivers, try using the CTZAPXX and upgrade via that. Otherwise stncttr908 is pretty much right, When I was using windows 98se with my A1 I didnt have any real troubles with eax, but whenever I loaded a dvd the sound would go out of sync.

I think you right LTech221 I never did uninstall the vxd drivers before I installed the wdm drivers. I'm trying it now!
