I really don't expect to be running Windows 8.

However it has not been released yet. I do think I will likely install it, if at least to a secondary HDD, so I can say I've used it. I'll try it for myself and then decide whether or not I like it.

However, as it stands with the information presently known regarding Windows 8- I'm expecting Windows 7 to remain my OS. Maybe whatever comes after Windows 8 wont entirely abandon power users whom function better with a desktop and some form of a taskbar. I'm not opposed to the implementation in OSX, nor the implementation in Ubuntu, or Kubuntu.

However, Metro seems like it'd be a step backwards for desktop power users. As such, I don't expect I'll run Windows 8 on my machine as a primary OS.

I won't be.

Metro isn't intended for keyboard and mouse desktop users. It's intended for touchscreen PCs, tablets, and maybe even phones.

Everyone here who is currently running 7 will undoubtedly upgrade to 8. If for nothing else for the performance improvements they're seeing in the Dev Preview. The Metro UI will be an option, not the default like it is in the DP.

I will be at work; always gotta be on the latest and greatest when in IT. ;)

I just hope that Metro is KBM friendly enough to work on at work or else it will be completely disabled. I don't see any of my clients using it for many, many years. Still got a lot of them on XP.
