View Full Version : This G.Skill DDR3 1333 7-7-7-21-2t at 1.5v is crazy good.

It is the G.Skill Ripjaws X Series .It said it was desighn for the LGA 1155 platforms and I was told not to use it in my Gigabyte EX58-UD5 board because I could have problemswith it.But to me DDR3 is DDR3 memory no matter what they advertize about it,when I can buy it for $84 for a 16 gig kit 4 x 4gig.It rated at 1333Mhz 7-7-7-21 at 1.5v.But it wll run at what ever I want with a few changes.It will run at 1066Mhz 5-6-6-16 1T at 1.4v.Occourse it wil run at the stated 1333MMhz 7-7-7-21-1T.It says 2T but my motherboard sets it at 1T with no problems at all.It will run at 1600mhz 8-8-8-24-1t at 1.54v.If I want more I just set it at 1800Mhz 10-10-10-30-1T at 1.58v If I want even more it will run at 2000Mhz 10-11-10-1T at 1.6v .I ran benchmarks with all the different settings 3DMark 11 ,vantage and crysis 2.It was stable at all the different settings .I got tired of messing with it but I am sure it will do 2133Mhz at 11-11-11-30 at 1.65v.I never had memory that would overclock this great.My OCZ DDR3 1600 7-7-7-21-1t at 1.64v would just barely remain stable at the rated speed.Plus if I messed with it's timeing it would just blue Screen.I am sure if someone else bought this kit for a EX58 board they may not have as good of luck as I have had.But other people with the LGA 1155 plathorm have got them to 1866Mhz at 10-10-10-30-1.5v.Even with all the different settings ,I saw at most 350 points difference in benchmarks.I get the most when I run them at 1600mhz at 8-8-8-24-1T at 1.54v.Good cheap memory.

The reason they recommend not to use it with your socket 1366 is that you have a tri-channel design, while this kit comes with 4 DIMM, for dual-channel.
Not sure which configuration you are currently running (dual? Tri?).

And yes, memory has improved quite a lot in the past few years Most kits sold today are actually 1600+, although they may not be marked as such. Quality is just that good...

On my Gigabyte EX58-UD-5 I can use 4 sticks and still be running in tri-channel mode.I have 6 slots and I can set it up to run dual channel or three channels with 4 sticks ,I just have to make sure they are in the right slots.I don't know how it does it but my manual shows me how and with 4 sticks my CPU-z shows 16,432 Gb and in three channel mode.I can't tell no difference between 12Gb and 16Gb ,but I did see a improvement over 6Gb as far as things loading quicker.
