I figured the performance wouldnt effect alot but after reading alot of reviews from people that have them i must have one now:). They all say everything is smooth as hell and is responsive as hell.

Would like some recomendations from any of you that may have one or know about some good quality ones.

Price range $0-$300:)

About the only drives with rotation speeds that high for that price are 36 GB SCSI or WD Raptor drives. I've heard that WD sent review sites Raptor drives with better performing firmware than what they shipped to customers and got caught with their pants down.

If you want more storage space, you'll have to expand your budget by quite a bit.

My 10K Raptor RAID0 performs better than my 10K SCSI Ultra160 LVD RAID0.

I record live music. The IBM RAID0 system was bandwidth-limited to 12 channels of CD-quality audio. I've not pushed the Raptor RAID0 beyond 16 channels, but that disk bandwidth limit has not yet made itself known. :D

Probably the best price/performance will be the 74gb raptor coming in November.

I'm still stuck on the 15k RPM.

What's to stop the disk from making your case levitate? ;)

Seriousy, though, I've heard that the WD Raptor is not only very noisy, it also runs very hot. CPU core-type hot, frfomwhat I've heard.

How would you keep a 15k RPM hard disk cool? Are people going to start selling watercooling cages for hard disks now?
