Beyond3D's own Dave Baumann was at the Valve Half-life2 presentation at ATi's Shader Days and has just put up his article on it.

Go read it here (http://www.beyond3d.com/misc/hl2/), 'nuff said.

I'll just quote what I said at Beyond3D...

I don't see any benchies of the 9700 or 9500 series... I presume they have the same features the 9600 Pro has (and both are technically faster anyhow)... a little lacking in variety (as the 9500 Pro probably provides way more bang for buck)

At least the FX5800 wasn't tested.. but surely it would've died a horrible death (its performance would probably be equal or slightly better than the FX5200)

A definately objective article... as people need to understand the reason behind the NV3X specialized modes that have been created in DX9 games and the "BIG TWO" games (of the year in their own way)

I think the FX 5800 Ultra mayvery well out perform the FX 5900 due to it's high core clock for the pixle shaders.

Actually i think that is Wrong.

The Rv350 has enhanced pixel and Vertex shader pipelines over the R300. It will beat the 9500pro in most if not all Dx9 heavy tests. This is already being shown in benhmarks around the web.

Even with only 4 piplines it should win in any Shader intensive situation.
