GABE NEWELL HL2 RELEASE DATE STATEMENT MAYBE FAKE

Gamers Hell are reporting that Gabe Newell (?) sent us a mail letting us supposedly know that the 'news' posted on Shacknews yesterday (story) is a fake and that Half-Life 2 has gone Gold and in production now. Here's the official word:

The release will still remain on schedule for Sep 30th. People who have pre-orded it via Steam will still get it before the Sep 30th but we are currently ironing out a couple of bugs, people may have seen Half Life 2 yesterday for a minute on it while we were in our testing stages (...) The SDK will be available for download tomorrow 2.00pm EST. Now you've heard it from the horses mouth so rest assured. More news to follow on Sep 26th so watch this space.

I HOPE THESE IS TRUE :D :D

call me really behind the times but I just saw that full 600mb HL2 demo. It's absolutely disgusting. Wow. I think more than anything I'm amazed at the physics engine.

for the 2 ppl left who don't know, the video basically consists of the 3 benchmarks they have been using, so I have an idea of what frame rates to expect in certain environments now. It ran pretty smooth in the video. Anyone can confirm what system they used for that video? I'm hearing a 9700pro and a 2hz p4. Not sure.

I am now officially - proud owner of ATI RADEON 9800 PRO card :D

This card - rox!! MY games didnt crash at all, everything is stable, even my fav game - Operation Flashpoint - that favors Nvidia card - ATI ran it really good, fast frame rates with 4xAA 4xAF 1600x1200x32....NICE! I don't regret that Ive RMA'd FX 5900 !

hehe, considering Jakup's luck this will happen.

Setember 29th, Jackup comes home with a 9800pro, and says im ready for some HL2 action!

Setember 30th Valve annouces Half-Life 2 Delayed untill 2010!

Your statement continues to get progressively more humorous :)

"One of Germany's biggest PC gaming magazines, Gamestar, are reporting that there is the potential for Half-Life 2 to be pushed back as far as April 2004 according to a statement by Christophe Ramboz on behalf of Vivendi Universal Games. While translations have been rather poor, from what has been gathered; this possible delay is due to Valve needing to work on multiplayer and Steam components.

They do mention that Gabe Newell has not commented on the topic. This same statement has now been mirrored on a number of giant German gaming news sites, however HalfLife2.Net has just approached Valve employees for confirmation of this claim made by Vivendi, we hope to have a response soon.

On a related note, according to translated interviews with Doug Lombardi that took place during the Tokyo Game show, Valve had already commenced work on an expansion pack set for 2004. HalfLife2.Net forum participant UndeadScottsman apparently recieved an an e-mail reply from Doug himself promoting that this statement was either in reference to the Collector's Edition of Half-Life 2, or a translation misquote. Please keep in mind that we have no possible way to cement the legitimacy of the e-mails posted in our "Info From Valve" thread, however up until this point our faith in community members has paid off with only valid information being published."
