it looks like i found a buyer for my 5900..... soon i will be getting a 9800 pro.. im kinda happy, and kinda not.. since nvidia ripped me off.. hehe

anyways, this is the very first ati card i have ever owned, and i have appromixately 0 experience with an ati card (except with the friends i played with at his house)

is there anything i should know before i install this card??? bios settings? driver options?? etc.?

also, i have the 3.7 cats sitting on my desktop right now.. is it just a double click to install them?? or do i have to install the control panel separately?? i dunno i just heard that i do from somewhere (the file is the high bandwith 22.mb download)

well mainly because of the hl news.. but also because ive had enough nvidia's b.s. i want to be set come sept 30th:D

and im not rich.. i just want what i paid for.. and 30fps in ps2.0 games at 1024x768 is not gonna cut it for me:)

and plus.. i sorta got this 5900 for free since i had to rma my 5800 ultra, and evga sent me this as a replacement

Anyaways..... geting back on topic. The best bet when you get the card is to format and start from fresh tends to be the best way :) but if not then uninstall nVIDIA's driver then power down the computer and install the ATi card power up and use a reg cleaner like RIP nvidia or something remove the final files and then install ATi's driver.

I've been happy with the OMEGA drivers, as they come with the overclocking utility. I'm sticking with the cat 3.5 ver. untill the 3.8's come out.
I had some trouble with the 3.6's.:)

Actually, there is one thing you should know...
If you've tweaked windows at all, you'll want to check this...
Under System->Advanced->Performance Settings->Advanced, you don't happen to have memory usage set for System Cache? If you do, change it to "Programs"

ok.. thats it:D i am now a proud owner of a 9800 pro, and i can tell you right now.. i love it. 16x af runs beautiful.. something i could never do on my 5900..

ut2003 runs so much smoother on the flux map.. (my 5900 seemed to struggle on it for some reason)

the graphics look a little crisper, mainly the textures.. and everything just seems.. smooth;) well l8r im off to play somemore:D

There is nothing I cannot play at great fps with killer IQ.
I think u will find there drivers are pretty good also.

We...The ATI boys are becoming more and more with every day as i see ;)

Good luck to Nvidia because they will going to needed...I hope they will come back REAL Powerfull with the Nv40
