Diablo 3 fans flooded onto the servers as Monday turned into Tuesday, but some found themselves booted from the game thanks to a Templar follower. Interacting with the character causes the game to throw up an error, locking some players out of their Battle.net accounts completely, Eurogamer reports (http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-05-15-error-3006-players-discover-game-breaking-bug-in-diablo-3).

Players on the Battle.net forums are reporting that when they equip the Templar with a shield, the game de-syncs from the server and eventually kicks them back out to the character screen. Once there, all buttons are grayed out, and when players try to reenter the game after quitting and relaunching or restarting their computers, the game gives an "Error 3006?? message. According to a blue post (http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/4916972036#1) on the Battle.net forums from a QA employee, the issue may be isolated to Demon Hunter characters.

Blizzard has acknowledged the issue as a bug and says a hotfix is on the way out. Until then, players should avoid giving a shield to their Templar before killing Jondar (wait to hire the Templar before giving him anything). Apparently, employing the Templar will keep him just happy enough to let you continue playing your treasured new game.
