Must have atleast 1K posts and be on my Steam friends list to be eligible.

I've been waiting for a beta invite for a long time. Guess I'll have to wait until release day.

Thanks a lot buddy! Downloading now. :D

Thoughts on the game so far? Is it pretty much a graphical update and nothing more?

Feels like an update more then anything for sure.

kinda like the jump from L4D to L4D2 but not as dramatic.

I played one quick game and yeah, it's an upgrade more than anything. Doubtful that I'll buy on release day.

I would play during lunch today but I'm getting back to work today. Maybe late tonight and I can post some screenshots. Wish there was a Mac beta or else I would have screenshots for you right now. ;)

I'm using classic crosshair with centre dot and some config changes to make the weapon position more like CS:S.

Had to go on a bot filled server as the community servers are all depressingly empty, especially at this time in the morning.

Wow, the jpg compression the host did to the png files I uploaded is horrid. I'll convert in advance with the rest I upload.

According to the Interwebz, CS:GO release on August 21st for $15 across PC, X360 and PS3. Valve is smart not to charge any more than $15 for this "update". Nuff said.

Would have been nice if they had really pushed it up a notch, Textures still look very plate. Maybe needs a bit if DX11 ;-)

Meh, they really should have waited on Valve's next game engine instead of throwing this flop out. Source is my favorite game engine, but let's admit it: it's getting old and out dated. I really wish Valve would unveil what they are truly working on. I'd like to see a new engine followed by Half Life 3. So we only have about 50000 years before that happens! :bleh:

Counterstrike is viewed by many gamers as being an "esport" as such it shouldn't have any overarching changes. Just as in other sports, the game must be kept consistent. We don't go changing the rules to Football or Cricket every season just for the sake of making a new game.

The evolution of the casual game in CS:GO, along with the mild tweaking and graphical updates in the core "Competitive" mode fit with the theme of consistency in sport.

I, personally, am loving the beta, wish the servers were more full. Though to me it is a worthy update to CS:S and brings back some 1.6 feel to it too (more wall-banging ftw). Though I am viewing the game from the point of view of someone who played 1.6 and CSS at a high level for years, so I can't speak for the casual gamer who may look for a different experience.

From what I can gather the "look" of CS:GO is deliberately clean and simple, this is because in CS it should be easy enough to spot enemies on a map, there should not be too much clutter and details making targets hard to find. The difficulty in CS is not provided by camouflage and hard to spot enemies.

Some shops had pre-orders for $50 :D

$15 is a really nice price though, too bad about the cross-play. I wish they put pre-orders on Steam with the beta access.
