I dunno if this is a known problem or what with this retarded card. I spent about 3 months searching through google and forum after forum for answers. I dropped this question in at least half a dozen forums and noone had an answer, perhaps you kind people can help. I dunno if it was the newest nvidia drivers that just came out a few weeks ago but all the sudden a new option appeared in my advanced display properties under the geforce tab in windows. It was for agp rate, I was like " O M F G !!!! THERE IT IS!!! WOOT WOOT". So I finally was able to switch it over from 1x to my mobo max.. 2x. I ran a few of my games to test the performance increase and WOW was I blown away. I play alot of a game called "americas army" and my framerates on every single map DOUBLED!!! I couldn't believe it. Well, the first problem was I had to keep resetting this option after I rebooted. It had an option to save and activate on reboot I believe but it was greyed out and to my will it did not bend. I tried looking everywhere....ok no biggie, I restart xp like once a week.
Take a step back now. I retake the linux plunge a few weeks ago. I'm messing around with it and configure it well enough to consider it "safe" for leaving on the net 24/7. So I decide I want to install some game ports.Oops, ran out of space. So just this afternoon I reformatted my 20gig and had a repartitioning party, stupid linux problems. But now I have more partitions then I've ever seen. Hehe. So now I have space for everything, XP, swap, linux, games, apps, the whole kitten-kaboodle(sp?) AWESOME!!! So here I am reinstalling everything, drivers, apps, firewalls, etc. I'm finally at the point where I tweak my system. I get over to the video phase and to my disbelief the agp rate option vanished!!! OMG, why?! WHY?! I have no idea what to do to get it back. I thought perhaps when I re-hacked the registry with the coolbits key that it would come back but it did not. Now here I am wanting to finsih up my tweaks so I can get to gaming and the CRITICAL piece is now gone.
The short of it...where the hell did my agp rate option go? How do I get it back? Why does my video card hate me so?? :mad:
