Explorer accessing the internet?

Zonealarm always asks me to give explorer internet access when I right click certain files. Of course I can tell it to always remember to give it access, but whenever I install new software, explorer.exe gets modified and Zonealarm needs to be told again to give it access.

My question is, why does it require access in the first place?

I too run ZA, I have all 4 fields blocked for windows explorer. np
