http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_AMD_CPUs_51.html

AMD Athlon FX 51 (Socket 940) (CP-061-AM)
AMD's new top of the line CPU aimed squarely at the performance enthusiast brings levels of performance unheard of before to the desktop market. With its revolutionary 64bit architecture this CPU is fully compatible with future 64 bit operating systems and offers blistering performance in current 32 bit applications.

Clocked at 2.2ghz and utilising AMD's new HyperTransport with a massive 1mb L2 cache, the Athlon FX 51 offers an average performance increase of 15-20% over the AMD Barton XP3200+ CPU. The combination of HyperTransport and dual channel DDR 400 memory interface brings further performance increases.

Price: £575.00 (£675.63 Including VAT at 17.5%)

== about US$800

I dont know why people keep on insting on using exchange rates to gauge prices, it doesnt work like that. Remember how much high end cpus generally are when they first hit, and thats about what you can expect, the first Barton3200+ would have been around £600+ unless Im wrong? To buy a pre made top of the line pc, you would be looking at about £2,000-£2,500 (at least when i was living there)

Anything new is always going to have a high price tag, always has, always will, give it a month or two, the price will come down ;)

If you notice you will see that I'm in the UK, so the exchange rates are for other peoples benifit. The thing about the UK and US exchange rates are that if something is X dollars in the US, it's X pounds here. Not X / 1.6 which is the exchange rate. The CPUs are probably being sold in the states for 500 not 800USD!!!

Do you want a kidney by any chance?

My finger is hovering over than buy button, don't make it fall... noooooooooooooo... :)

26K?!?!

Why do I get the feeling that AMD is going to kick the **** out of Intel, despite their FUD, until a Prescott shows up?
