there is a very good reason I think we should not have the ridiculous deficits we have right now...

The dollar's decline this year has partly been stemmed by the fact that Asian governments, in particular Japan, have intervened to prevent the U.S. currency from weakening too much, which would then hurt the competitiveness of their exports in world markets. The concern is that if they won't be intervening any more, the dollar could fall even more.

That concern sent the dollar lower versus other major currencies, pressured international stock exchanges and U.S. Treasurys, and also drew new buyers into gold -- all of which conspired to send U.S. stocks lower.

anyone else perturbed by this or am I alone in my hatred for our RIDICULOUS deficits ?

these tax cuts and what not only make us more vulnerable...

The tax cuts are not causing the deficits. The spending is. Why can't they cut back on the spending? Why do you target the tax cuts? Cut back the spending and things will be fine. Of course there is the war on terror you might not want to cut back on.

Why does the left never consider cutting back on spending?

um... the spending is NOT being cut back...

by consequence... the tax cuts should not be going through... but they are..

naturally lesser spending is good but be realistic here... what with the war in iraq and the declared global war on terrorism and other projects... can we really cut back on spending ?

is it not more prudent to cut back on the tax cuts so we DON't drive up deficits ?

NO NO NO! why cant you cut back on the never ending social programs? WHY IS THIS SO HARD? I don't get it. You cut back the programs and things will be fine. If we reduced the size of government the deficit will drasticly be lowered. It is not the tax cuts.

Why do you want to take more of my money for social programs? All we need to do is cut back the rate of growth and we will be fine, but as soon as we do that you lefties will cry foul and say we are starving children and holding medicine from the elderly. You can't have it both wasy. Cut the taxes and have a smaller more resonsible government.

BTW I hold great contempt with the social spending Bush and the republicans did this last two years.

This constant crying about the deficit by the left is so funny.

the right is in control and has been for the past 3 years udawg... are you saying that it is all the leftists fault that the right has increased spending and cut taxes which has led to the current predicament ?

are you suggesting that the budget surpluses that were projected through to the end of clinton's time in office were due to the republican's unimaginably superior economic plans whereas the current crap policies are all due to the democrats and their mindless policies ?

are you that out of touch with reality ?

I am not saying we should not cut back on programs that lose money... some social programs are required as they directly affect the quality of life of people in america... but when you are increasing teh size of government.. when you are increasing spending for whatever plans you wish to accomplish.. you DON"T CUT TAXES w/o expecting a massive increase in the deficit...

Read the last part of my post. I have said it many times I am flat out mad at the the republicans have done in congress the last 3 years. BTW the senate was controled by dems for 2001. ;) Remember Jumping Jim Jeffords? Any way my comment was about the left's inability to cut programs spending rates and the size of government not that the republicans have wasted the last 2 years of congress control.

Actualy from your last post particularly the last part of the post we don't realy have a disagreement. I liked the last part of your post except the part that tax cuts increse the deficit. We both know it is the imbalance of revenue and spending. Tax cuts do not reduce revenue. The 80s had a increase of revenue even after the tax cut but spending was not controled. My point is to focus on the spending. I do agree if spending cuts are out of the question then tax cuts cannot be implimented but why focus on the tax cuts? Get the arss butts to focus on spending cuts but we both know if we do the dems will cry from every mountain about starving children. So what did the reps do, they caved and became Spendicans.
