I've recently switched to an intel system. Before i replaced the cpu and motherboard I partitioned my hard drive into 2. I did this so i could install a new winxp installation and also so i wont have to loose the files i currently have on my hard drive. my problem is i cant access the my documents folder on the old xp installation. I keep getting access denied. any solutions to this?

Try loging in as Administrator. But if you've set up your former XP install so it kept your personal files private, hmmm... I don't think it's gonna work as XP won't indentify you as the same user (nor as the former XP installation's administrator, sadly) even if you used the same login then. You may try restoring your old installation, move the files somewhere else and then boot up with your new install and put them into your new personal folder. Sounds boring, eh ;) ? That's why you always should proceed carefully when re-installing XP.
I can't think of any other workaround right now. So if someone else has an idea...

edit : Oh, I re-read your post and noticed you didn't dump the former XP installation at all. So just boot and choose to run it in the start menu, then proceed as explained above or just tell XP not to keep your personal folders private.

edit #2 : There was no real use in re-installing XP, you should just have reinstalled your mainboard/CPU's drivers (XP does it automatically). Setting up a multiboot system is never a good idea unless it is really necessary.
