A friend wants to buy a Geforcefx 5900 but i keep saying him to buy ATI instead of Nvidia for this current generation of cards, but he still wants to spend his hard-gained money on a 500$ piece of hardware cause he says Nvidia is more trustful (he has a ti 4200 and is very happy with it but wants to play hl2 and many other stuff). Anyway, if you could link me some benchmarks of popular games (no quake3 plz) showing the scores of both cards under heavy usage of AA and AF so i can show him the light, i`d be very thankful.

Any past reviews of FX 5900 would be biased and untrue.
Due to the fact that 5900 is a Dx 9 card, yet it struggles in Dx9.
So like I said, any past reviews would be invalid.
Just go for the comparisons done by Toms or Anand.

please tell your friend to come here at least and read some threads and be more informed on how trustful nvidia really is before spending his hard-earned money. anyway, his hard earned money will serve him right, it will either teach him a good lesson or get him a really good card(9800pro). :D

Search this forum and search Google and you should be able to find all the information you could possibly need.

Man, do we have to point out all the bloody evidence for everybody?
There's a "search" feature on this forum, if you want to help you friend out I suggest you use it. (Sorry if that sounds grumpy, I'm still pre-coffee. )
Just read Behemoths posts for the last 6 monthes. He was a Hardcore Nvidiot (not that that's a bad thing) but his 5900 didn't live up to the hype. Now he's a happy 9800 owner~!
use me as an example and show him this thread... i had that p.o.s. 5900, and i was not happy with it.. now i have a 9800 pro and i am more than happy with it. its a great card.

How's this for evidence that NVidia has admitted defeat at Computex:
"nVidia mentioned at the end that they hoped that people were not too upset that the GeForce range did not receive much attention. They hoped that this would show people that they are just not a GPU maker but a more diverse company with a bunch of new and exciting initiatives for the future."

The strikes me as more PR work to deflect heat away from the more pressing issues at hand.

lol, nice. Well I think the very fact that this IS nvnews and yet there are so many ATI supporters says a lot. The benefits of the product is strong enough to overcome the initial bias.

Thanx for the links guys. Now i got another problem tho. We all know that ATI´s AA is a lot superior than Nvidia´s, and Nvidia´s AF is only a little bit better than ATI´s. I need some proof, cause he keeps saying that Nvidia got better AA and im sick of telling him that he is wrong. A link showing AA and maibe AF comparison between both cards would help me a lot, halp plz.

Hell, sounds like your friend is an annoying little ghit!
I'd tell him, "Fine, whatever...do what you want.", and walk away laughing. :)

Thats right for now, but also im kinda short of money and want to play hl2 on his PC:angel: and i know it will look awful on a FX, i know that sometimes he can be an annoying little ghit but still its not that funny after u think its 500 bucks wasted on something that says in the box that it will run dx9 fast and u end having to play under dx8.1 mode.

Sorry for my abrupt response, I was crabby.
You're right, no one deserves to get screwed over just because nVidia has the marketing-machine-from-hell....it's kind of why I've been screaming about it all year too. ;)
Tell him to hold off on his decision until the 30th since there are new cards coming out and prices will drop. (It's the truth, PLUS the HL2 benchmark will be available and it'll open up a lot of eyes. :) )
I would personally just let him purchase the card he wants, which is the GFFX. If you talk him out of it, he will blame you for each and every thing he finds wrong with the ATI board. No matter what it is he will say stuff like "I wouldn't be having this problem if I had purchased the GFFX like I wanted to in the first place". The first EA game he plays, he will blame you for having to wait for the game patch before the game is playable.

Alright! With all this evidence im sure he will change his mind, but if he doesn´t, well, i can still laugh at him when he is running hl2 at 40fps in dx9 mode lol. Thanx for the help.
