The 9600XT looks like a sweet card if its still under $175... which I doubt it will be . $190-$210 is probably more accurate of a price range for this thing.
*sigh*
Until this year, I thought that prices dropped and things got faster as time progressed..... the 9800 non-pro, 9700 series and 9500 series have proven this wrong... they were a lot cheaper than the slower cards that are coming out now.
BTW guys, im still looking for a video card. Willing to spend $200 for a 9800np or 9700 Pro.... will consider a 9700 np for under $180.

An intresting thing is Gigabyte is comming out with a 9600Pro that is overclocked to 500mhz, it has a bigger cooler on it, and is gaurenteed to run at that speeds, anand claims it costs 15$ more
Well Capn'... we're in the same boat.
If prices don't shake loose for the Hollidays... I'm prolly gonna hang on to my TI500 till spring, and see if my $200 can buy me the boost I want by then.

Still having a Gf3 Ti500???
I assure you that the latest Geforce and ATI products are surely much more faster from it already so you do not need to wait until next spring
until then maybe you will need a new proccessor as well...
You need a upgrade man and PRONTO :p

Nah... I don't run AA and AF. It still runs games pretty good @ 1024x768x32. But like I mentioned in the other thread... the 9600 Pro with AA and AF off, is sometimes slower than a Ti4200 in older games... hence not worth da dough.
I'm targeting a decent boost... a Real 8 Pipe 9800 Non Pro is my "target Performance".
If the 9600XT can do it... I may consider that.
/shrug
(Oh... and at present I have an Athlon XP 1800+ in an nForce 1 board (no integrated graphics)... gonna get an XP 2600+ 266 at the same time (Highest this motherboard will take)).

I do not think that the greater models that are coming (9800Xt) is really so great from the 9800 as you think
I think the perfomance increase will be small
so he can buy a ATi sollution that is available now
To Taz : I do not know about the 9600tx but if it is not 8 pipe then surely go for a 9800np by all means
a 9800xt i do not think will be neccesary...It is not a real big upgrade
from the latest High end that exist right now as i see
(you can tell it by the name why it has not be called 9900)
do not fall to much in with the ATI-Nvidia war Hype early released upgrades Glowstic

But early next year our cards will be compeltely obsolete and that is when he should buy, the 9700pro coatail started a LONG time ago, about a year, why would he want to buy outdated hardware. Now the Refresh of the year old hardware is getting replaced, defiantly a bad time to buy, espically since his card is still working fine.
