CDRW Drive Doesn't Populate

hey, my aopen CRW 1632 CDRW drive doesnt really work anymore. it doesnt read any CD's unless i go to properties>hardware tab>properties on my cdrw drive>volumes tab>and click the populate button. then i can read the cd untill i put in another cd. i think my WinXP Pro isnt automatically populating the cd RW drive when i put it in. i dunno, maybe i dont know what im talking about. anyway, any help would be galdly accepted. :) Im VERY desperate! :( otherwise ill have to format :mad:

Try booting into safe mode and removing the cd drive from the device manager and reboot. If that doesn't work, try updating your chipset drivers for your motherboard. If that doesn't work, try updating your BIOS. If that doesn't work.....well....format away!

thanks for the suggestions, but i already got it fixed. yeah! all i did was uninstall easy cd creator 5 pro............very suspicious.....got nero to burn cds any way. :)

yeah it is, i dunno why it was even installed. musta been from a long time ago
