Since i don't want to spend over $400 for the 9800. What is the best bang for buck ATI Radeon Card?

I reccomend purchasing your card at newegg.com.
You will save alot of money and possibly afford a better card. Newegg flat out rocks! I have purchased thousands of dollars of gear from them.
They are fast, usualy get the new gear before anyone else, usualy have the lowest price, ship 3 day fedex free, have live stock info, and frequent email updates on ordering. They have a huge fan base.
Newegg is in Cali, Im in delaware. If I order by 3pm and pay nextday I get my order by 11am the following day!
You can use a mac card if you dont want to use a credit card. (some people dont like using their credit cards)
the price/performance card you are looking for is the 9600pro.
at newegg, you can get 9600pro's ranging from $148.00 to $200.00
they also have a 9800pro for $306.00, which is lower than the $400 you stated, maybe that price makes it closer to your ballpark.
I would say that Radeon 9600Pro with 128MB of memory is the best choise.

I forgot to mention, the 9600pro XT will arrive very soon. (a few weeks)
At this point the exact price point is unknown, but it should be close to the regular 9600pro in price. Performance wise a 9600proXT should smoke a regular 9600 pro.
might be worth waiting.

Depending on where you are, I think the R9800np is going for $250 US, and usualy overclocks to PRO speeds...

Radeon 9600pro
9800NP.. for sure thats the best. Two of my friends bought the sapphire brand one and they flashed it to 9800p. It works like a charm and so simple to do. Go with 9800NP or wait for 9800XT if you want more fps.:D

I found a 256MB Radeon 9600 non pro for about $127. Would that be a good card?

Don't let the 256 mb of RAM fool you. The 9600 non-pro isn't a good card. The $127 price tag for a 256 mb card should tell you that.
If you can afford $250, the 9800NP is the best choice. Best Buy, Circuit City and other retail outlets should still have a good selection of Built by ATI 9800NP cards for that price.
