Have any of you guys tried out 3DMark99 recently? I can't get it to run, it keeps stating that it "cannot detect DirectX 6.1 or higher, please install DirectX 6.1." Of course, I have Windows XP, with DirectX 8.1, so I don't see what the problem is. So, any of you at all on Windows XP, GeForce4 Ti 4600, 30.30 drivers, can you get 3DMark99 to run???

8281, but I get a really big feeling my motherboard is holding me back. The SiS 745 chipset just can't keep up with nForce or KT333.

well that SiS chipset is lovelly though, used to have one months back with your board... loved it... shouldnt of sold it :(

hell more reliable than VIA stuff...

Definitely been reliable as no other, but it just lacks some features and performance.

Well I know I've ran it before on DirectX7, even DirectX8, but that was when I had my GeForce3 I think. Now with the newer drivers, and my GeForce4, I can't seem to run it. It only needs DirectX6 or above, which we all have, so I don't see the problem. This program may be old, but is still nice to look back on and compare.

With old Tbird http://service.madonion.com/compare?2k1=3957461

And with Tbred http://service.madonion.com/compare?2k1=4281154

Motherboard is a bit oldish (AMD760) and that's why I can't get any higher scores even if I use fastest memorytimings and 150/153MHz FSM/MEM buses.

Just got the Radeon 9700 Pro the other day...

At stock speeds I hit 13,030.. which isnt that impressive.

Gonna see how far I can overclock it. I wish the 2800+ and nFORCE2s were out *drools*

mmmmm... Nforce2... DDR400, AGP8x... mmmmmm, AthlonXP will never be the same once that baby releases! :)

as far as your 3dmark score, it seems decent to me, but I'm sorry to report I do know of some Radeon 8500 users that were able to reach that score as well. But those people usually overclock the hell out of the CPU past 3ghz using water cooling, and the GPU using volt mods and heavy heatsinks so don't feel too bad. For you, I'd wait for ATI to tweak their drivers some more and I'm sure you'll see a boost. Afterall R9700 is new.

I managed 11995 using my overclocked 2100+ (1845MHz) and slightly overclocking my Gainward 4600 (315 core / 685 memory). Can't quite break the 12000 barrier, but I think it's a cooling issue, and I'm not yet ready to make the jump to a watercooling setup or some other extreme variation. Besides, anything over 11k is great for me. :)

DANG! Very impressive! 11k with an AthlonXP + TI4200? How the heck did you manage that?!
