fx1000 disappearing mouse cursor

Hi,

2.4.18-19.7.xsmp
redhat 7.2
FX1000 4367
gnome1.2 sawfish

I upgraded to this gfx card a month ago, all was fine, untill lately,
Now I've been getting a disappearing mouse cursor (if mouse is not moving)

and a shadow cursor box in shake or fcheck during playback (only while moving)

anyone seen these problems before?

I've reinstalled drivers
and swapped cards and get same results.

any ideas on howto fix?

What happens when you enable/disable overlay planes?
