View Full Version : Favorite Guns...
I saw that we started rolling with this topic in the Couple Pics thread, so I figured I'd start it off here instead...
I have been around guns for the majority of my life. My father was in Vietnam and my Grandfather was a WWII Marine and Police Chief in two towns...I attended Basic Training in Ft. Leonardwood ( aka: Fort Lost-in-the-Woods ) when I was seventeen ( youngest in my platoon ) and have always been a fan of the local shooting range.
Having shot most of the weapons which were discussed, here are my impressions:
Glock: ( specifically 9mm Glock 17 and 19 )
-Incredible weapons which are surprisingly light and easy to shoot. Very durable and very controlled kick...
Desert Eagle:
MY God, this weapons makes you feel like Clint Eastwood! The front of this weapon is perhaps the most intimidating image an enemy could see. Combined with the flexability of the severa barrels, this is an ideal weapon for any enthusiast.
Baretta:
A 9mm Baretta was the first handgun I ever shot. The overall quality of the weapon is impressive, though I was always amazed with the lead-filled weight...
Sig Saur:
My favorite handgun of all time. A 9mm handgun with Tritium night-sights...This weapon combined incredible quality, light weight, and impressive accuracy. A service-weapon favorite of the majority of FED's...
AT4 anti-tank weapon:
Tee hee hee....what a rush to shoot......I've only shot 9mm tracer rounds at a burnt-tank corpse...But watching the Drill Sgt. shoot the real thing was amazing...

I haven't been around guns all my life, but I do enjoy the shooting range now and again...
I usually take my .22l S&W target
http://www.smith-wesson.com/images/firearms/small/22A_107431.jpg
And my no-name .22 rifle.
I have a Beretta 92FS
http://www.beretta.com/images/p_92FS.jpg
and take it some times to the range.
I also have a single-shot shotgun that I take to the outdoor range with me, and do some skeet shooting, fun stuff!
I've shot many guns before, including Desert Eagles, and 1911s, the new Rugers, and countless others I can't remember...
I think I'm going to get a .40cal next, or a 1911 Commander, but I'm not so into guns that I need to run out and get em now...in due time...
My fiance is not a big fan of guns to say the least....I do plan on getting a small 9mm though to keep in the house as protection....Likely end up getting the tiny Glock 19...the 26 is cool....but way too small....

Well... during my time in the army I got used to a few guns, mainly the AK4 Assault rifle and the KSP-58 Machine gun.
The KSP-58 was, well, cool... it was an old 7.62mm air cooled machine gun...
It made a staggering amount of noise. :)
I must have fired thousands of rounds with it....
We had the AT4s as well... I too only fired 9mm tracers whith it.. then we had a grenade rifle too, similar to the AT4 in power... I stood about 2 meters to the left of another soldier firing that thing once.... you didn't hear it as much as you felt the shock comming up from the ground, through your legs...
We blew up quite alot of things with plastic explosives too... Blowing things up was quite fun :)
We did throw real handgrenades too, noone in our platoon threw the pin instead of the grenade. :)
Apart from the army, I don't have any contact with guns, we dont have them at home in Sweden, and I don't feel any need for it.
(Though I do sometimes wake up in the middle of the night and panics when I can't find my assault rifle next to me. :) Psychological scar from being in the army.)

I have shot several different handguns back when I used to go shooting on a regular basis. Some of my fav's are:
Glock 19:

And of course, the Sig Sauer P226, pure perfection:

I don't think so. Your gun is equivalent to plasma gun. BFG 9000 has the same firepower of 50 simultaneous shots. :p :D

"My fiance is not a big fan of guns to say the least..."
People should be educated about guns. I find the most morons have this preconception that guns are evil. They are only tools used to do wrong by their operator. I am also severly against guns laws becoming any harder than they already are. The point has been brought up before and to agure against it makes you look like an idiot.
Criminals use illegally obtained weapons. Why make it hard for law abiding citizens to defend themselves? I live in a country were guns are frowned upon. There was a murder a couple months back. A man shot a woman and her son them walked to their parents house (very nearby) and shot the women parents. Now what if any of hte victims have a firearm? Or a neighbor? Could all or part of this tragedy been stopped? Maybe and Maybe not. Beside there is that old saying. Its better to have a gun and not need it than need a gun and NOT have it.
Sigs are nice. Glocks are better. My glock 17 is very nice with the cough "pre ban" cough mags I have for it. It my home defense weapons so I load it with cor bon HV JHPs. I have shot just about everything under the sun. I personally don't own any other but a good friend of mine owns many many firearms. I shoot them whenever I can. :)
I love everything about Glocks....except that dual-trigger pull.......You never are able to get a 100% certain idea of how far along the trigger is....With Sigs and other weapons, you can really tell where the friction point is right before it fires...
I never was a fan of pistols since they do not feel quiet complete.
I preffer a rifle's. You feel as if you are part of rifle when you fire it, something which you do not get when firing a pistol. I personally do not like firearms but they give you a euphoric sence of power when you shoot them.
My favourite rifle has to be the mauser 86sr which my granpa bought for me for my 18th birthday. It is one of the most superpbly crafted rifles i have ever fired. It is well balanced and aligned and i find it too be extremely accurate upto 50m without a scope.
I have fired quite a few other rifles, I think about 7 different rifles (including some remingtons and armalites) but the mauser is one of the finest. Pity the US customs wont allow me to bring it in without paying some hefty fee.
One of the most powerfull rifles which i have ever seen being fired has to be the steyr iws. That thing is just plain brutal the corpral who was demonstrating it made some remark that it could take out a 747 or a tank. And once you see the freakin bullet (or mortar:D) that beast fires... damn. You cant really buy that since the price tag on it is at around $60,000. It is a prototype weapon and if i am not mistaken the corpral who was demonstrating the weapon said that each bullet costs about $200. The bullet too is freakin wierd.
Wow enough of this rant.

With a "standard" "5#" Glock trigger setup, you'll have no problem knowing where the break is. My prob is knowing where the break is on a Glock race gun. Spooky, those....

Oh please, that power armor has almost 100% resistance to energy weapons. You wont do a damn thing lol
And besides, i've hit 382 points of damage with the Turbo Plasma Rifle.... Just aim for the eyes with 200% Energy Weapon skill

I think my favorite gun is the Argentiniean made 1911 i got at a Pawn shop for 30 bucks. That thing had taken a beating, and i can still get 3 inch groups at 25 yards. But, like most 1911's, if you feed it anything but fmj ammo, it wont even load
Dans choice is a good one. I prefer the extra range and accuracy of a laser rifle though.
BTW, most powerful gun in Fallout was the Red Rider BB gun. Did you find it?

WHAT?
That thing had 3 of damage!
Or am i missing something?!?!
