With Half Life 2 being pushed back to April 2004, is Doom3 the next big game? What's the ETA on Doom3 these days anyway?

"MaxPayne2: The Fall of Max Payne" went gold the other day and should be available October 15th in the US. :)

Screw Doom 3, Deus Ex: Invisible War all the way! Man, for all the attention some of these other games are getting I'm suprised almost noone mentions DX:IW, especially considering how many fans and how much acclaim the first DX got. Oh, Thief 3 looks pretty cool too, but it probably won't be out this year. Oh well, until then we have Halo.

Got my order in today and I'll still get the t-shirt that Best Buy was touting, even though I ordered mine at Electronics Boutique.

I really don't get people that prefer graphics over gameplay.
Doom3 has maybe the greatest graphics but same gameplay as Doom1.
Deus Ex 2 is close to Doom3 graphics and has a gameplay with almost infinate freedom of choice.

Next game Im buying is the RavenShield expansion Athena Sword. I would like to get MaxPayne2, but I just dont have the cash. DeusX2 should be good, but I think Thief3 may be better :p Anyone know when STALKER is coming out?

Er... except in DooM 3 you'll be able to look in every direction, and jump and it's in real 3D. DooM 1 offered one of the best gameplay ever, anyway. Simple, efficient.

Yup, but Deus Ex 2 is kind of a mixture of FPS and RPG, whereas DooM 3 is gonna be a pure FPS. It's only a matter of what genre you prefer.

I wouldnt say too much about Doom3 just yet. With the dark setting and intence engine I dont think there will be 10+ zombies on screen at once like in old doom where you mowed them down with the minigun or bfg. If you ask me that would be pretty dumb, the Doom3 engine offers some awesome shadow plays and visuals that sets up for some awesome horror in your face type of play. Fewer tougher enemies that jumps out on you *drewl* :D

Im really looking forward to DeusEX2. Id pick that game over D3 anyday. I just hope it is released soon :)

I like story driven games where you get to do lots of things and can take on problems in more then one way... I like mgs substance on pc cos of that despite all its xbox port flaws.

I'll be the first to admit that I'm not really looking forward to D3's style of play as much as HL2 or DeusEx2, I ain't much for shadowy shooters. :(

I forgot DE2 was coming out soon, that's another biggy on my list also...it should be great!

OK, I have heard over and over how wonderful Deus Ex was. Guess I am finally interested in playing the first installment myself. How else can I get excited about the sequel right??? :)

My question is, will Deus Ex run properly under Windows XP? See system in my sig... Thanks

It'll run fine just make sure you install the latest patch. You might also want to do a search for an opengl renderer and truform patch.Try www.planetdeusex.com

Found a copy and ordered it for $15 including shipping. :)

Once I'm done w/Jedi Academy and Halo I'll start in on this one.

Definitely will make sure and apply the latest patch for it. If I remember correctly this was one title that had a few bugs when it first hit the street.

It had a serious bug called "optimized for glide" and direct3d was a bit slow but the opelgl renderer applied later helped.Try to find a later onengl renderer from the DX community.

Crap. This thing was built up around the first Unreal engine wasn't it (hence the glide optimization)? Damn. That complicates things a tad.

Nobody knows. iD never gave an ETA after they delayed it from 2003 to 2004.
