nice. the fx5700 sounds promising at 475MHz core and 900MHz ram! but fx5950 only 475MHz? Nvidia has heat and yield problems, remember fx5800u?

The GFFX 5700 was suppose to be 256 bit? If its 128 bit I don't think its gonna do too well :(

900MHz 128bit = 14.4GB/sec bandwith hmm it's ok i guess.

FX5700 must provide some competition if the the specs are really tru. I dont know abt the IQ part thou.

For $225 or so now, and it has 256 bit memory (for 25+ GB/Sec bandwidth, not 14 G/Sec).

If the GFFX 5700 is not 256 bit, there would be no point in buying it unless there are big improvements with DirectX9, enough to compete with the 9600XT. Also since GFFX 5900 is around $225 now, the GFFX 5700 would need to be much less expensive if its 128 bit.

But now there are rumors of 256 bit version coming out of the 9600XT, which if the GFFX 5700 is 128 bit it will not be able to compete.

oh I can see Nvidia is in big trouble. Of course they will quickly discountiune the fx5900 as to make availability very limited. also the fx5700 will be 475/900. Maybe Nvidia may price the fx5700 cheap, like $180-200. also the 128 bit 9600xt may be $199 while the 256 bit may be $250+ so if Nvidia cant win the performance crown, they should sell at break even just to prevent losing more market share for short term while they rush the nv40

This is completely off-topic, but Paul, is that a drunk Ronald McDonald?

It's Ronald McDonald, but he's not drunk. He is suggesting his daughter's a wh*re, however.
