we have a problem with a ghost image at work, for some reason it is refresh rate locked at certain resolutions. For example, 800x600@85hz, 1600x1200@60hz, 1280x1024@75hz.

In other words you CANNOT set 800x600@60hz, only 85hz. This is a serious problem because most of our monitors can't handle 85hz, and they need 800x600 and 1024x768 modes.

I've tried different color settings and reo****ion combos, the refresh is still locked. I've tried reinstalling, updated, and older drivers from both Dell and ATI for the RagePro for Windows NT4. I've removed all video driver entries from the registy, boot in VGASAVE mode (640x480@16color@60hz) and then reinstalled the driver. I've tried PowerStrip, RivaTuner, MultiRes. I've tried setting the resolution manually in the registry as per Microsoft. I have tried EVERYTHING and yet for some reason it refuses to allow me to run 800x600 @ 60 or 75 hz, only 85hz; and the same goes for 1024x768.

Please help, this image had a lot of time put into it and we donot wanna have to make another one.

Boy gator that's a hard one :(

The only other program not on your list is refreshforce-it might work but it doesn't look promising.

Gator, I was going to suggest Powerstrip - http://www.entechtaiwan.com/ . However, it looks like you already tried it.

Not sure what the driver control panel is like for the RAGEPRO, and this is probably no help whatsoever, but here goes anway...

In the ATI control Panel, click the"DISPLAYS" Tab, then click the monitor you game on (*note, this is NOT the monitor tab)
You will then (I hope) be presented with an option called "DirectX Over-ride", and you can set the re-fresh rate accordingly...if you are unable to choose a different re-fresh rate, unclick "Use DDC Information" and all re-fresh rates will become available to you....(bear in mind that this will be the re-fresh rate at ALL DirectX and OGL application resolutions)

You might also want to re-install your monitor drivers?

Good luck....

WinNT4 does not use monitor drivers, nor can you select different monitor types. And guess what, this problem is happening on our other recent images too!!! This image is for a Dell GX1, but the GX110 image which uses an Intel graphics driver is also experiencing this. It's a really serious problem, and meanwhile the company demands we use their official ghost images. We've got a nightmare on our hands. :(
