good deal if it overclocks good, but the HL2 will come in a vocher and by the time that game comes and you redeem the vocher, the r420 will be out anyway

I don't think he's buying the card solely for HL2...there's a lot of games that can be enjoyed long before the R420 is out.

Yeah there are lots of games. Planetside for one, deusex etc. I have ordered a xt myself for those games, cause planetside is a major system hog and you need tons of horsepower. It seems alot of guys want us to feel bad about getting the xt? Jealousy? I have no idea?
Why would it be a bad purchase? It costs the same as a 9800pro 256 yet it overclocks higher has higher default clocks and comes with a great game. Whether it comes by Christmas or not really doesnt matter . Its still free. We should try to keep the (wait for next generation) comments to a minimum. We have no idea when it will be here. And we have no idea on real performance, price etc?
You realize they may have problems with it just like nvidia did with the nv30. And you may not see it till may 04. I can't wait that long as all ive got is a 4600ti. So let us feel good about our purchase and leave it at that.
This wasnt meant as a personal attack on the poster but just a general thing ive seen on this and other forums. On all the forums there seems to be a few who seem to want to make you second guess your purchase. Don't bother guys we are not stupid we know what were doin!
And i hope everyone that has ordered a card enjoys the hell out of it.
And i hope r420 comes out on time and kicks ass too. It won't make my card any slower so why fret. You keep waiting for the next thing you will never enjoy whats here now.

I take it you didtn read my post?
If he overclocks and i overclock with my watercooled gpu im betting my our speeds will topple yours.
Why does it become a brag fest?

Yah I paid $445 shipped. If I went up to Bestbuy and bought a ATI 9800pro retail it would of been $350 + $25 tax..... HL2 would of been $50 plus $5 tax so I would of payed $420 for a 128mb retail 9800 pro and HL2 game. I like the deal I got. Of course I could of bought the retail ATI 9800 128mb pro card off Newegg and received it for $364 shipped and the game would still be $55 which would total $410. Wow.... I really did get a good deal. Good deal being relative ;)

I know you probably wernt bragging but thats what it looks like or it just looks like jealousy. You were probably not trying to say anything and for that im sorry. As i said in my other post, there is just alot of people who want to make you feel bad for your purchase or want to make you second guess yourself, that is hard to take when your spending 550 bucks(shipping taxes) on a damn card. You were probably not one of them but if you would have read my post maybe you wouldnt have worded your post quite the same. There are so many people that say "bah, what a waste of money my xxxx card overclocks that high anyway" well this is friggin retarted as the new card will overclock also. Its like saying "why buy a 2.4 gig p4c when my 2 ghz already goes that high." well because the 2.4c will go to 3.5 ghz. Its just gets on my nerves that little jealous nerds(not you) can't can't seem to just say "wow nice card-wish i had one".
Ive been living with my 4600ti for too long but i was never here saying people were dumb for buying the best available.
I will say it again. "If you keep waiting on the next best thing you will never enjoy what is here now". Look at me. I held out buying a 9800pro cause i thought nvidia might do something with nv35 but that was a mistake i could have bought it in may and enjoyed all my games that much more. Of course my cpu and mb needed upgrading too so thats why i didnt bother. And now im upgrading to full watercooling with a 2.6c overclocked to 3.5ghz and full watercooled gpu. Now i will see vast improvements but i almost was gonna wait for the athlon64fx(btw too expensive). But you know what you have to jump in sometime or you just keep waiting.
Sorry if i brought it down on you. And for those people who think the 9800xt is a waste you know what? Keep it to yourself no one cares!

I guess I just didn't write down what my thoughts were throroughly enough-I think the 9800xt is a nice card and I wasn't trying to bash his new purchase-I should have said "this is what MY OC is, are going to try to get that XT OC'd?"
