although i was a turtles nut when i was 6 years old... hell i had a turtles themed birthday party... i was coooooooooooool :cool:
um... american? at least half of those are japanese.

actually, i was wrong. only 2 on the list are anime. Transformers, and Teenage mutant ninja turtles.

as for Transformers, you are wrong. Transformers is an American show, that was brought to Japan. There were 4 seasons(in America). In Japan, the first 3 seasons are the same as in the US, but instead of using season 4, the Japanese created their own series called Headmasters and went from there.
i believe Transformers Beast Wars was American as well. and its sequel. although in Japan they had a "in-between" series as well.
Robots in Disguise and the recently airing Armada are both obviously Japanese.

GI Joe RULED!!! Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles also kicked much arse :D I also LOVED Pinky and the Brain, that toon was very funny. But its not action and its rather recent compared to GI Joe and TMNT. Tale Spin and Darkwind Duck were also cool. Oh, almost forgot, ExoSquad! That ruled too!

from all that i've seen, it started in america as a comic. japan released it as manga, then it came back to the u.s. as a cartoon...
IMO there are no good american cartoons :/
As for Transformers being japanese... it is... ya can't deny it. Not all anime is full of large-eyed, pointy-haired, magical characters. TMNT, I thought was only Japanese *inspired* ? same for THundercats?

dang thats a hard choice, I grew up w/ all those especially thundercats, TMNT and of course Transformers. Fatman I also love Pinky and the Brain too, hilarious!! :D

i just want to get to the truth. i have trouble believing that Transformers is a Japanesse show when I'm almost 100% positive it aired in America first and it belonged to Marvel.
maybe they used Japanese animators, but the show certainly doesn't have that Japanese style(that the later Japanese series does). if you've ever watched any of the Japanese series you can instantly tell that it's anime and it definitely has a much different feel than the original Transformers does.

teenage mutant ninja turtles was the **** i use to always make my mom buy me action figures when i was little haha. hours of fun before a computer came out.

wow i really like the whole list! specifically transformers, g.i. joe, and thundercats, oh and also dungeons & dragons was cool too.
but u guys forgot the really cool marvel and dc comic-based action cartoons such as x-men, spiderman and his amazing friends (featuring firestar and iceman), justice league of america (the episodes with the wonder twins ["wonder twins power: activate!!" :D]), and batman or batman and robin cartoon series.
i'm sure these were definitely american-based, no doubt about it!
