We didn't have enough time for extensive image quality tests but the new driver solved the issues in AquaMark 3 and the performance numbers indicate, that the anisotropic filtering quality is better than in previous drivers.

sigh. dumbasses.

From the 9600XT versus NV36 review on Hexus.

We do understand that most of the population buys systems which are running WHQL drivers, however a lot of system builders such as Evesham, Mesh and the like will use non WHQL drivers to get a competitive advantage within reviews. The 52.16 drivers were certified last night - and we have a WHQL set sitting on our FTP as well as on my desktop.

Should be any day then for an official release.. :)

also from hexus:

"The driver on the NV36 will debut at the same time as the card is released, nearer the end of this month. It's a shocking improvement on the 51.75 set. Both 52.14 and 52.16 have been used in my testing recently, with 52.14 in particular being the best GeForce FX driver NVIDIA have created to date, in my humble opinion. I'll talk about their image quality as needed. There'll be no specific image quality screenshots for one main reason; I just haven't had the time to create them, the cards only arrived yesterday. I promise a proper image quality analysis of 52.14, 52.16 and CATALYST 3.8 in my next graphics card article, that goes beyond simple commentary. Until then, you'll have to take my word for it."

Haven't we been saying that for months...really. Use the search function, LOL, people have been saying NV38/Det50 will be out *soon* so many times.

Where are the drivers?

Where is NV38?

Why do the launches keep getting pushed back!?

I can not believe there actually going ahead with the nv38. o0, I would have just focused all my company's resources on the next card. (nv40) This makes no sense to me. Could some one enlighten me please?

If they get the new leaked drivers, that should fix the additional letter problem.

Will that also fix the preponderance of "teh" I see in forums? I hate "teh" :D

I already have NV38, MSI NBOX FX 5900 Ultra (450/850) set to (475/950) :)

In 45.23 and 45.33 I have no problems however with 52.13 somehow once I start playing Homeworld 2 or Halo I 52.13 doesn't seems to want to keep my memory overclocked and goes back to 850 after I exit my games. CPU 475 stays just fine. I switched back to 45.33 and all stable at 475/950. weird. Btw no temperature change between 45.33 and 52.13 for me.

Ummm...did I miss something here? I'm pretty sure that the NBOX (MSI) is NV35. Can someone please clarify this? BTW, I have an EVGA 5900U (comes overclocked so I left it that way), and the mem speed during games doesn't change...wierd..

You are correct about the NBOX.

What I ment was that I have NV35 U overclocked to NV38 specs.

True, but how many times have we seen a website say they have a WHQL set on their desktop? If they're WHQL already, they're obviously just waiting for the hardware to ship or something..

Is it WHQL, or is it a WHQL candidate. I remember a lot of official Detonator drivers released(40 series) that were WHQL candidates, but there was no WHQL driver until 43.51/44.03(6+ months later).

After all this reading and posts even the Toms hardware review, i got to say imn done with Nvidia. Ait here i come. im not totally disopointed in Nvidia but they can't even take on Ati the right way. they still lack in performance behind the ATI offerings so this is why im going ATI.

Thanks Jaguar,
You helped me! My 5900U was running at 500/850. Wasn't sure if I could get it higher with stock cooling. Now I'm running happily (and not to hot) with stock cooling at 500/950. I have only tested it with a certain leak wich I'm not supposed to have though...gonna try an older game engine(Some new Star Wars game built with a highly modified Quake 3 engine....Sorry, forget the name at the moment...) Will report back soon..
I will try with Halo in the next few days to see if I have any problems with that...

I just got my Nbox (NV-35), put it in mp PC with Detonator FX 52.13 and OC the card to 500MHz/950MHz @44c temperature! That's to hot for me?
So I put the clock back to 475MHz/900MHz @36c temperature! That's still alot faster then 450/850...

Now all I need is the official release (Detonator FX 52.16?) Oct.24/2003!!

And the FX5950 Ultra (NV-38) should over clock from 475/950 to 525/1,050?

ToxicTaZ,

500/950 with @44'C ? Woow that's nice. I have Thermaltake 5000A case with pretty good cooling and I can't get your temperature. I have the MSI NBOX FX5900 Ultra and when I set my @clock to 480/950 I get 43'C GPU and 36'C ambient temperature, Desktop mode (2D). That's all fine but when I run 3D games like IL2 flight sim or Halo for a while and then quit to destop and check the temperature the GPU is around 57'C.

With 52.13 if I run Halo sometimes it reboots my box. No such problems with 45.33. I would love to check out 52.16 and then DX91 :)

I'm not gonna push my card beyond 480/950 as I want my card to last me for a long time. I had Asus GF4 Ti 4200 128MB AGPx8 and I set it to 300/600 and after afew months I would get some weird pixel artifacts on my Windows 2000 desktop... so no thanks.

nrdstrm: I run Halo in 1152x864x32bit All maxed out, no AA and no AF. Pretty good FPS even with 45.33 though 52.13 were much better! I can't wait for 52.16 :)

I run my Halo in 1280x960 32-bit and all maxed out to! (2AA x 8AF) on, My FX5900 Ultra @475MHz/900MHz and Detonator FX 52.13 Still run's good FPS to! Detonator FX 52.16 should run much better!
