Heh just installed it at work instead of old IE5 on NT4, and one word -stellar.

My subjective feeling is that pages are loading about 50% faster.

I always wanted to try it. Does it come with any spyware or takes away any functions from IE....can you have both running?

Gotta say I tried both Mozilla and the Firebird.
This is way better. (http://www.myie2.com/)

Give it a try - you won't regret it !

Thanks. I tried that and it didn't work, but I've found out how to do it. Here it is for anyone else who needs it.

If you manually select the plugins folder as the destination, then the Getright plugin will get extracted into a sub-folder called Getright. Just copy/move the files out of there and into the Firebird plugins folder and all should be well.

Edit to add: Given this a more extensive try, and it seems that no .zip or .exe files from the BTN mirror at majorgeeks get caught by Getright.

I've tried MyIE2, Avant Browser, and a bunch of other browsers. It all comes down to this...

I've been using Firebird for the past 3 or 4 months and I haven't looked back.

I finally tried firebird and its ok...that tab browsing is winner, IE needs it. One thing though it does't display all pages good and takes a bit to display everything on the sites.

meh.. since when was alt+tab so difficult? :p

firebird takes an aaaaaage to load (for me) and doesnt do asp.net pages properly, once thats sorted i might consider it.. Oh and are the reply boxes supposed to be so small on these forums, or is that a firebird thing?

Is it the same IE but with tab browsing?

It has all advantages of Mozilla/Firebird except for the email client.
It filters all the popups, works and looks just like IE with all Mozilla features.
I stronlgy recommend it !

I decided to try firebird out, and whoa it rox my sox.

Best browser i have ever used, i switched over my xp drive to firebird and my linux drive to firebird, i also use Thunderbird E-mail, its also very great.

I also feel more secure that with all the dam spyware that uses exploits in IE!

No one here done a detailed comparison of it to opera?

Hmm

Firebird = Free
Opera = Not free

Other than that, I have no interest in Opera.

Could you try something in Firebird for me? Try running a bandwidth test at www.dslreports.com/stest

Whenever I try to run the test in Firebird it asks me to install Java, but according to the info page I have Java installed.

Yes, you probably have MS Java VM installed, which firebird can't use (activeX stuff).

Just head here http://java.sun.com/getjava/manual.htm and get the latest version.

Once that's installed save the code below in a text editor and rename it to firebirdJava.reg or something and merge it into the registry. Then it will work perfectly.
