Just speculating here, but it's highly likely they registered but don't want everyone to know they did.
After all, if everyone knew for sure that they'd launch the NV30 at Comdex, ATI could do things like paper launching the R350 one day before or something.
And that would be quite bad for nV, IMO.

ya i guess they could but why hide when they already paper launched the nforce 2 and have been give us all a bunch of "pr" stuff on nv30. why hide there the ones feading us all this info. it just doesnt make sence to me. why hide it when all the rumors mills have been a buzz about this stuff for months now. if you look at the vendor layouts all the spots are taken. were would they launch there so called earth shattering product.hmmmmmmm

Actually some of vendors dont rent out boths at comdex due to the high cost. 3DFX back in the day held their PR at a hotel very close to the show floor. Maybe nV is doing the same?
I wouldn't be surprised to see an enourmous show put on by NVIDIA outside of Comdex. As far as I know, there are some limitations to the presentation of booths at Comdex...perhaps they were too limiting for NVIDIA and they are looking to show their products elsewhere...They could easily rent a spot and hold their own "event" which could be as big as NVIDIA wanted...
:D
Either NV or ATI weren't listed for ECTS this year until very late. Forgot which. I think NV.
They could also just still be working out details and COMDEX isn't saying until the deal is final.

you answered your own question. when they don't have a product ready, the more they get people interested in phantom products and have every news site on the planet speculating as to what nvidia is doing, those folks at nV have done their jobs well.
it's called sleight of hand and it works well. the nvidia fan boys have been ranting and raving about NV30 for months now, and it's still nowhere in sight, not even with a paper launch :p

When one markets one right after another, thats called timing. You want to keep customers interested in YOUR products instead of the competition. NVidia is good with this.
