View Full Version : Just installed my new 9800xt and overclocked her! Im happy.
Wow is all i can say! I finally got lucky.
Just recieved my 9800xt and poped it in my old machine 1.5ghz t-bird.
And got the card to 470 core and 410 memory. Absolutely rock stable no artifacts and played 8 hours of planetside with those settings. Also ran 3dmark03 for 10 runs. I was hoping to get 450 400 out of it with watercooling. 470 410 was with stock cooling. I will be building a new rig in the next couple days (soon as my ram gets here:confused: ) and will be watercooling the 9800xt with a DD maze 4 gpu block. I am so excited. I never seem to get a good overclocker (cpu's or video cards) so im a bit pumped! I hope Hellbinder gets a good replacement like mine. Im sure hed be happy with what i got. I have to say im so impressed. Ive never owned ati before and everything went so easy. The image quality is unreal. I played last night with 4xaa and 16x aniso and it was beautiful.
The crazy thing is i don't know how high this card will go? I am so satisfied with what i got i may never know. But i won't push further till i have my watercooling installed. Think i can reach 490 with watercooling?
Anyway thanks ati!
/me tries to trace odin20's house thru internet......*searching*.....*searching*....*FOUN D* :D
Right thats gonna belong to me tommorow! :firedevil
Man i dead jealous, even though I have a 9700pro, I can't get the thing to overclock well, 350mhz core and anyting above 320MHz memory, and i get artifcats damn!!! ;)
MUYA
i feel your pain i have never had much luck overclocking.
You know whats weird. This thing "felt" like it could go much further if you know what i mean. I mean i know artifacts and pixel popping ive seen it cause all my other cards didnt overclock well and i had to keep pushing them to no avail. This was almost too easy. Installed it and boom 470 no problem. Ive tried everything to see artifacts and can see none. This little gem may hit 490 on water?
I really don't care as its such a step up from where i was(gf4ti4600) its unreal.

That's totally sweet! I remember an article a while back someone using a pelteir chip with a waterblock got a 9800 pro up to 625 core stable, so I'll bet you can hit 500 or so.

Glad to hear about these good OC's. :)
I cannot wait for koolance to release it's new
plate for 9800's and above "CHC-A09". 180 watts is what
it can take. :D
I'm hoping with water cooling my 9800Pro will reach 460+.:super: :smoking2:
It will be a 5900U killer for sure. :D

Wow that sucks! You get less of an o/c than I do with my 9800 pro. :(

425 seems to be my 9800's core max on air. So I got a crappy core to. :(
Well, without those damn white dots.

Imagine what your gaming would be like if your system wasn't CPU-limited. What kind of motherboard do you have? Cause I would recommend that when your next paycheck arrives, you should go get a Barton 2500+ at your favorite retailer, pop that bad boy in, and see what your Radeon 9800XT can do then!

Could you find the link again please?
I find that partially unlikely. 625Mhz on a 9800Pro :|

To reach that kind of crazy speed the card would of obviously had to have been volt modded as well. And even volt modded with a pelt it is highly unlikely, but definetely possible if you got lucky with your VPU. 625 mhz is a 65% gain over the stock 9800Pro speeds and very nearly double that of a 9700Pro! The highest OC I've seen was 590 mhz on a 9800 Pro core......
Maybe he is confusing the 9600XT with the 9800XT. I could see the 9600XT, possibly, hitting over 600Mhz.
Did you read my first post "theoneKEA" In it i tell how i am setting up my new puter. It is now set up and i will be testing this sucker with watercooling soon.

Yeah, it was volt modded all to hell, it was a overclocking site that was trying to see how high they could clock a 9800 pro and a 5900 ultra, without artifacts. I'm looking for the article now.

Found it. (http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/display/extreme.html)
I was wrong, it was the 5900 ultra that hit 625, the 9800 only hit 540. ;)
Still, 540 aint bad. :p

Oh. Whoops! /me must learn to READ posts, not skim them ;)
So what CPU and/or other parts are you going to stick in this box with this mad 9800XT?
NIce OC's esp 410Mhz on memory is really good.
I have my new "atom splitter" running right now. It has a 2.6c overclocked to 3.5 ghz, 9800xt oc to 477 core 415 mem, 1 gb of ocz pc3500 running 2,3,2,6 at 5/4 ratio, dtek whitewater wb, maze 4 gpu, dtek customs procore rad, tygon tubing, antec 550watt truepower, and a 80gb wd se7200 rpm. So far she rocks the party. The Video card has yet to show signs of any artifacts and i will try to push further maybe 485 core 425 mem. I got 7566 3dmarks on o3 the way it is now but had the settings in control panel set to high quality. If i bumb it down im sure i may get 8000.
Anyway theres the rig.
Im a happy little camper. But real broke right now:)
Seeya guys hope everyone else gets a overclocker!
