It worked earlier... I managed to read the whole thing.

It basically said that the NV38 was a pretty good card if they can keep the price a $100 below the 9800XT - they were pretty evenly matched apart from in heavy shader based titles. Their conclusion was that the extra shader performance on the 9800XT wasn't worth an extra $100.

The NV36 (FX5700) on the other hand was a completely different beast, it managed to beat the 9600XT in nearly every test - by quite a margin in some, and looked to be a really good deal if the price is kept at $199. Much more bang for buck than the equivalent ATI card. It is also the first chip to come from IBM. Also it looks to be a overclockers dream, I think they managed to get it to 500/1100 without a problem.

The PCB layout is identical to the NV30, which begs the question of why the NV30 cost so much? Either NV made a huge profit on it or they are taking a loss on the 5700...

NV30? meh, .... I was beaten with broken shovel handles for making nv30-nv36 connection speculations!!! :D:D

oh well...

heh, looks like nv has a winner on its hands with nv36!!

I never signed any NDA :D

Sorry about it only being in Swedish, the graphs speak for themselves though.
English translation will be up later on today or realy on tomorrow (well at least before the other NDA-signing sites will have theirs online in any case I hope. :) )

our site has a problem with dying at connection just try again and it will show up and at normal speed :)
we installed some new stuff to measure statistics but apparently it wasnb't meant for sites of our kind of size, the log was filled with 3.7 million entries in one single day and just bogged down the whole server ;)

I checked in my web cache just in case it had cached the ixbt page but, alas, it had only cached the graphics...

So I've got some pretty pictures of the 5950 and 5700 and of some icky rendering errors produced by both the NV and ATI cards. Shadermark under the Cat 3.8's looks... interesting :D

500/1100 Holy *Beep*...

Why O why did Ati do 300mhz ram? I just dont get it. I really think that ATi may need to take some Steroids or something. Their Tetosterone levels are way to low for a knock out Fight with Nvidia right now. They need some serious Rocky Balboa action. "Yo Adrian" with the 500/500 mid range card hehehe..

Never happen.. at least not till next year sometime.. :(

Heh :p
Well, if they really are gonna sell these babies for $199 i'm gonna try one out.
But what other choices do they have? For $299 i doubt that nobody will even touch it.
:POKE:

No, they gotta do a "ATI" here and win the crowd back, or at least take the first step trying to. A kickass card under 200 bucks. Remember 9500 Pro? I doubt that ATI made any money at all of that card but they did become popular among the "mainstreem kids" :D

AnteP..

Absolutly FANTASTIC Choice for review settings my man. someone actually benched the cards at the real sweet spot for these monster cards. My personal favorite setings of all time.. 1280x1024 with 4x FSAA and 8-16X AF.

Totally the best blend of Quality and Performance.

Very nice job and good selection of tests that people will be interested in. :)

True, but I've already seen an AIW 9600 Pro for $220 and I gotta tell you it's a real sweet gaming card. It compares pretty well to a 9700 Pro for gaming, it really does; as well as having a nice stereo tv-tuner built in that has some cool tricks. :)

But I agree, that 5700 FX looks damned tasty. Looks like there are gonna be some fun mid-range cards this time around.

Thanks mate =)
I have yet another few results that I'll post in a follow up review and I also have result from a game not yet available that I can't post right now :) (no it's not HL2 or anywhere near as "exclusive" ;) )
results från the overclocked settings will be in that one too etc.

image quality comparisons will probably be posted later on, problem is I have a few other new boards that I have to review first

thanks :afro2:
unfortunately I don't have a 5700 as of yet but I'll get one really soon

problem is: nvidia never send my review samples or invite me to any press events
so I simply have to get all my stuff from other sources, which sometimes (as in this case with the NV38) can be great and sometimes it means I won't get the boards until a month after launch..

Yeah, i could really use an AIW. Spending way to much time with dear puter atm so why not watch lousy sitcoms here as well? :)

Augh. When will people stop referring "Serious Sam: The Second Encounter" as "Serious Sam 2"? It is not and never was.
