i just updated my graphics card from a 9500 pro to a eVGA 5900. i know 3dmark is not very important but this seems as a very very low score for this card especialy with the system I have... any reasons why u think it would be so low?? any help is appreciated, thank you.

Seems incredibly low yes..

Although 3DMark is suppose to be graphical test I think it does take into account your system specs. It may be your memory holding back your score.. No?

That much? he only gets 1,000 more than me.

if you're using the new det's people are reporting much lower scores in both 3dmarks.

Yeah I get 11590 with the 52.16 on a 5900U and XP 2100+ (1733). It seems the 52.16 does yield some lower scores?

EDIT: 5216 in 3dmark03

That is far too low, even if the new drivers are decreasing scores, you should be getting at least 13,000 with that rig. 11,500 were the kind of score I would get with my XP1800+, KT266A motherboard and GeForce4 Ti4600.

well i diddnt reformat however yes i did use a driver cleaner and a registry clean of all ATI...and it seems theese scores are incredibly close to my 9500 pro's.... hmmm maybe it still thinks i got that card?

Did you re-install the 4n1' s ?

If not at least install the agp end of them -your nature score is way off....

yea i have installed them... i guess i need to reinstall my OS? i mean is there anyhting in my system that u think would produce such a low score?

But did you RE-intall the 4n1's, or are you refering to an initial installation of the chipset drivers...

The reason I'm asking is everything looks about right except for your nature score. Your only getting low 80's when it should be at least 130ish -sure sign something isnt right agp driver wise...

You cant expect any monster 2001 scores with a 133 fsb either, the benchmark LOVES the high fsb's as can be seen with this compare I dug up from a 4200 I have http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=5954617

its a 1700xp with a 4200@335/670, if you compare the natures scores between the two you can see the problem -compare to rogo's as well(his system is a bit closer to yours)

You really should'nt need to perform a reinstallation of the os -the sytem I listed the compare to has seen a geforce3, geforce4, and currently a bba 9800pro@469/685 with the same os installation.

i guess a good way to see would be to use the 3dmark 2003? this is more GPU dependant i think

what would the average be in 3dmark03 with a 5900nu

jAkUp

have you tried resetting the cmos???

also for a 5900.. in 3dmark 03 your score should be roughly about 5500 or so

Actually the project search for 3dmark01 reveals that my score of 11590 is pretty much in the right range, since there are only three scores above 12000 in there using the same specs as me: FX 5900U, XP range 1600-1800mhz, WinXP. The highest being 12400 with no info on OCing.

Same for 3d mark 03, with only three scores above 5300 and all of them with varying degrees of OC.

Where I've not ocd neither my cpu or gfx. It would be pretty surprising if I'd be in the top 3 in both without ANY tweaking.

BTW. The compare url with the 14000 score for 3dmark01 is without the latter tests.. You gotta be careful when looking at the final score if people submit incomplete test results.

And isnt 3dmark01 more CPU bound these days? So, the score goes up with your CPU when you have a fast GPU like the FX 5900U. I got about 9800 points with the Ti4200 and same setup.

Thats incorrect subbo, the latter tests are not used in computing the score... thats why there are so many tests without those results.

The scoring convention is simple:

10 * low detail scores + 20 * high detail scores + 20 * nature score.
That simple. The other tests are not involved at all.

edit: your compare link doesnt work either subbo

I didnt post a compare url ;)

But.. are you sure theyre not calculated? Cause I remember the fillrate tests in particular being thought of as an important factor for a good overall score. And I can distinctly remember that you get less points with just the game demos vs running the full set. Ah well :)

I'm positive subbo, I explained how the final score is computed so you can check for yourself ;)

Ok.

Btw, are the dawn ULTRA and dusk ULTRA or the last chance gas station demos supposed to run smooth? Only the normal dawn demo runs proper/smooth for me, the rest are pretty slow, I'd say 10-15fps :(

well guys i d/l 3dmark 03 and i scored 4956 with no o/c does that seem right for a eVGA 5900 not overclocked? or should i still need to reinstall the OS?

Try the project search and input the MHz range of your cpu (not the PR value).. I guess thats ok for a non ultra?
