Looking for a good 21"/22" Monitor...any thoughts?

So far I am leaning towards the Mitsubishi 2060u...any other monitor(s) I should be checking out? I'd like to keep it under 800$. Thanks for any suggestions!

Sony ( FD Tube ), Sun ( made by Sony and use FD Tube ), Iiyamma ( sp? ), and anything using a Mitsubishi tube should be on your list...You can't go wrong with any of them...

I was going to suggest the Iiyama VM 514 it think it is, but after reading one review, they said that the 21 and 22" monitors suffer from ghosting! You would need to read a few reviews before buying a monitor just to get some feedback before hand. I must say thought the specs of the VM 514 are quite nice, 1600*1200 @ 110Hz

I really like my Sony G520. However, there may be better monitors out there now. I saw this monitor at Ubid.com like 6 months ago for 405$, at the time it was selling for 900$ on pricewatch.. it was a no-brainer for me. This thing is sweet.

Anyway I'd recomend somthing with Trinitron FD, or Mitsubishi DiamondTron tubes, Tom's Hardware had a good 21 inch monitor round-up awhile back. I beleive the 2060u did quite well, think it was #1 in fact, out of the 5 he reviewed.

Thanks guys, for your suggestions.. I'll surf over to Tom's and check out that roundup, those are usually quite helpfull.. I hadn't been able to find any for 21"/22" monitors except from PC World, and that source has always been a bit too "mainstream" rather than "extreme" (i.e. "gamer" or "power user") when reviewing products.

Everyone likes Sony. I like Samsung. Sony I find doesn't stand the test of time(many new monitors here from Sony) and has little quirks. But in the end its your eye that will catch the right monitor. Make sure the refresh rates are good even at high resolution levels and it's a flatscreen with good anti-glare.

My current Sony which has been replaced once has started once again to get some sort of static shock internally. When you turn it on you get this big distortion in the middle of the screen for a few seconds and sometimes you hear popping in the back of the monitor. My original Sony had this and died likely from it. Thankfully I was in year 2 of warranty and I marked the casing and when I got it back it was a new monitor.

Once again having the same prob. Sony is over rated, but since I don't pay for the monitors, it's ok.

Firstly make sure you even like Aperture Grille Monitors in the first place. If you can stand the two wires which are visible on white backgrounds then go for it. I personally hate Apeture Grille monitors, and prefer Flat Tension Mask based monitors from LG's Flatron range, which have all the benfits and qualities of Aperture Grille Monitors witout the wires.

Trinitron has other advantages other then being flat ss1. No shadow mask monitor, or monitor that uses similiar tech is going to get the color saturation as a Trinitron or Diamondtron. It's just not going to happen. The differnce is huge.

Hehe, that's the CRT I will soon be getting. They have a 513, but the 512 has better specs IMO and is cheaper.
