I have no idea.. I am starting to get really jittery about it...
Freak_Power from rage3d who had his fan die has not received anything back from ATi yet either. It has now been 11 days for me with no word. thats 11 working days not including weekends.

Anyways here is a funny story.
I RMA'ed a ASUS board a while back, and they phoned me and said "there is nothing wrong with it, we are sending it back and chargeing you shipping". So, i get it back and put it back in my system and boom, it dose not work. But what i didnt tell you guys yet, is they also by mistake send me a more expensive board also. They called the next day asking if i would 'send it back'. I told them HFN.

I'm freak_power over rage3d, and as HB said, there is nothing from ATI.
I sent the card as HB did, and no responses from ATI so far. They could replace fan so far, actually they should send us a new cards...
HB, maybe you don't know this but once they got our cards in NY RMA Center, they sent those cards to Canada to their shop, and I assume the will send it back to NY and than to us. We could sent card right to Canada, it would be much simplier.
Hopefully we will get the cards by the end of this week....

Here is Hoping. My overpowering system is sitting here choking my poor little 9600pro to death.
As it is, with this system pushing SWG I have *all* the game detail sliders maxed out running the game at 1024x768 with 4x fSAA+8xAF and getting 15-30 FPS. Thats with this litte 9600pro!!
I cant wait to see what it does with a real muscle card behind it :)
You really got nice rig, especially those SATA harddrives :D
I guess you load UT2003 for a few seconds...
Anyway P4 FSB800 is a great system, the best Intel CPU, stable, fast, compatible with everything, really has a good list of advantages over AMD platform. Even AMDFX 64 is the faster CPU, the AMD is not stable and compatible like as P4 platform is...there is always a glitch.
I'm thinking to buy SATA PCI Card, since my mobo doesn't support SATA drivers?
Maxtor SATA PCI card cost about 40-50$ + one of those crazy hard drives with 8mb cash and 10000RPM :)
I replaced my P4 2.8 with P4 3.06 HT, since my RDRAM based mobo supports HT. I'm waiting for Radeon 9800XT and to rock on...
I would replace mobo too, but can't get rid off it, because it really does damn good job. i850e + PC1066-32bit. It has 4.1Gb/s of memory bandwidth and that's more than enough for some time.
The mobo has only AGP4X Pro and works at 533FSB. By theory it can work at 800FSB and supports P4 3.2C and P3.2EE but only if I overclock from 533FSB to 800FSB, but the memory remains as problem. I'm not sure does PC4200 RDRAM modules can handle 800FSB. AGP/PCI frequency is not problem since I can setup it separately of FSB.
Well, enjoy HB...
Try Call of Duty awesome game, or Fifa 2004 Football if you like soccer game.

Okay, I dont want to be rude but... give me a break, I've been using AMD processors for years, and I didn't notice they were uncompatible or unstable with any application so far. Where did you get this idea ? Did I miss something ?
mrsabidji
edit : yup, I missed you were talking about the AMD64 CPU :D. Alright then. But hey, it's brand new whereas P4s have been there for some years now.

mrsabidji well the thunderbird/palimino/thourobred have a pageing error that effects any OS that uses some kind of andvanced pageing. Windows disables the advancing paging and servers pass it to the kernel!

I didn't know that either. That's, er... not cool. You're breaking my AMD-fan faith into pieces ;). Thanks for the info anyway.

mrsabidji Its not much of a deal, thats why i still use amd for all the other computers in my house, preformance/price is what matters and amd has the market in that all the way.

Yeah I remember about that few years ago, I think it only affected thunderbird and the paging error was fixed with a patch on windows update, well I think it not that serious. Last week I left my PC on 24/7 for 12 days and Windows XP never been crashed.

the advanced pageing (i forget its name) increase system preformance, but OS's simply disable the support of it for amd's

Well that funny, people experienced P4 slower performance with XP SP1 while it faster on Athlon XP early this year, it still not resolved until SP2 release probably at the end of this year or 2004.

I never really noticed slower performance.
But heck I upgrade so much is most likly why.
I went from a 1.8a to a 2.4a to a 2.4b to a 2.6c. All overclocked to max. :D
Now I want a 3.2 or a EE to play with. "lol"
3.5ghz is just not that fast. "lol" :p hehehe:angel2:
My chip now will boot and run at 3.6ghz but it's not 100% stable. That is a must for me. I HATE a unstable rig.
Shouldn't this have been a http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/images/sendpm.gif?
I RMA'ed a HD to IBM once, and it was a funny experience. It took over a month and when I finally got it back I had of course already bought a new drive, so I had to sell it but here is the funny corporate incompetence part.
They shipped the HD on a boat from thailand I think, then they flew it with like $40 overnight shipping charges to me. So that makes a whole lot of sense eh... plus I wasn't there to pick it up at 8am the next morning anyway so there was absolutely no point.

Hmm, then why do I have a beta hotfix from MS that specifically fixes slow program start up for AMD XP machines? I think you've got your info backwards.
He's probably talking about this (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;819101), which was a well documented bug.

No it must be something else caused slower performance on P4, my friend bought 2Ghz P4 last year and used it for a week, he ran it with other machine 800Mhz P3 by both sides to compare. He observed that P4 ran slower performance than his old P3 on XP SP1, he not very impressed with it, he returned P4 for a full refund and sticked with P3 for now.

I sure hope SP2 fixs this. I like as much performance as I can get.
