Double-post! (http://www.rage3d.com/board/showthread.php?s=&threadid=33720032)
It depends on the 9500 Pro is the answer. :)

Between the 9600XT and 9500 Pro its pretty even, Both trading blows in specific instances.
If its just a 9600 Pro I'd definately take the 9500 Pro Over it, Until yesterday I used a 9500 Pro forever, it was a great card.

Digi just messing with you.....don't stress it. He did give you the correct answer, although incomplete. The good 9500Pro is the 128 meg version that can be soft-modded into a 9700. You'll want to check out what kind of memory it has as the better the memory the better you chances of clocking the card 9700Pro speeds. Go into the www.rage3d.com forums (Radeon tweakers, tweaking & overclocking) and do a search for soft modding the 9500Pro......you'll get all the info you could possibly want. The hardest part would be actually finding a 128 meg 9500Pro nowadays as most enthusiast snatched them up months ago..........but you may already have that covered.:)

No 9500 Pro's can be soft-modded. You're thinking of the 9500 (Non-Pro). 9500 Pro's can be overclocked, even close to 9700 speeds, but it still doesn't have the 256bit memory bus.
I think Dig was saying "It depends on the 9500 Pro" meaning it depends on the core and memory sample used.

I forgot there are different ones, the one they are sending is the Visiontek 128Mb 9500Pro,I was just wondering people that had a R9500pro how well do they overclock.

By looking at your sig I guess you should know!:D
It's been a while since all that 9500 soft modding talk and I completely forgot that it was the np. So if there's a 9500Pro significantly cheaper than a 9600xt then go for it, otherwise go for the newer card.
:)
The 9500Pro is a great card. If you have one you need not upgrade to anything else at the present time. I have a retail Ati card with Hynix 3.6 ram. A number were available with 3.0 and 3.3 Infineon ram.
I flashed mine to the 9700 bios and clocked it to 325/310 and never changed. Probably could go higher on the gpu but there is no need as even Halo runs great. It looks neat with the Zalman ZM-80A passive heatsink and it is quiet. :D
If you have a choice, get the 9500pro(read up on it), but if your buying retail you get the free game with the 9600xt(play or sell).

my 9500pro works happily @ 320/290 for few months now, no issues at all.....
i wish i had better RAM, i tryed higher clock once, but it was little bit to high and i got really nasty artifacts, so i am keeping it in safe area.....
anyway...it's a great card........
R9500Pro is considered the better choice, but they are very difficult to find now for a reasonable price because ATI considers them a discontinued product. The R9600Pro & XT are good still great though, and one key feature is many overclock like crazy :super:
In my opinion though, if you find a R9700 non-pro around the same price get that instead because the 256bit memory bus can really make the difference in performance, despite having lower clock speeds

I agree to that. The 8 pixel pipes and 256 bit memory bus make it clearly superior. Plus, there is a very high chance to overclock the NP to Pro speeds.

This is just a return I got because Visiontek don't make the TI4600 no more ,did'nt have a choice, just got what they sent me.But it is a better deal anyway.I just don't understand why they locked it so it can't be overclocked. My R9800pro did'nt have this problem.

You can get around that "lock" problem, RivaTuner has an unlocking script in it. ;)

I never could get that Riva Tuner unlocking script to work right, it would patch okay but when I went to run a bench mark it would defaut my screen to 640 x480 x 8bit color and lock up ,I just flashed the bios with one that will let me overclock. The core overclocks great.
