I seem to have a problem with my 5900U.

I noticed it was idling 56.

So I installed coolbits.

There is nothing to change from 2d to 3d on clocking. No tab.

It just shows it being clocked at 450/851.

So I lowered that to 300 and my core cooled off to 52c.

Is there not a tab to switch from 2d to 3d on clocking?

There is no Auto Overclocker listed.

What is going on here??

Any idea's???

This is some strange crap...

I installed to old 45.23's and my temp idle is now 39c.

But still no way to switch from 2d to 3d and no auto overclocker button. :confused:

Here is a link to what my CP looks like.

Is there a newer coolbits or something?

Someone give me a link to the one they r using please.

3DM03 is seeing the card as running 450/850.

Is the dang thing hungup in 3D mode?

I just run 3DM03. I scored 6381 with it at default.
No problems with it not being in 3D mode.

Someone here has got to know whats wrong.

45.33, 52.13, 52.14, and 52.16 will all have higher temperatures than other drivers. This is because they contain the flicker fix. This adds around 10 degrees Celsius to your idle temperature. On hot days, the idle temp will be in the 50s easily.

OK cool. "well not cool" At least i know that now.

Any idea's on the overclocking tabs??

With my 5800U I could switch from 2d to 3d and
set both. I also had a auto OCing button.

I think it's kinda funny I can be setting idle and
only see the 450/850.
When I turn down the 450 to 300 or so my card cools on down.

EDIT: Well with the 45.23's it stays at 40c on idle even if I turn the 450 down to 250. :confused:

I haven't had my 5900 in since the 45.33 drivers so not sure about the 52.16 but-

is this the one you used:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\NVTweak]
"Coolbits"=dword:ffffffff
"NvCplEnableHardwarePage"=dword:00000001
"NvCplEnableAGPSettingsPage"=dword:00000001

or this

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\NVTweak]
"CoolBits"=dword:00000003

The 1st one is the one I used with the 5900/45.33 and I had the selection for 2D/3D clock speeds

Mike G

edit: if you need the 1st one just open Notepad and copy/paste then save as "coolbits.reg" then right-click and "Merge" to use it.

I have it saved in notepad.

I do not see a merge when I right click.

EDIT: OK I did the first one. Still no 2d/3d setting. :banghead:

You should be able too.. if you're using the coolbits card, Maybe the Asus card does not support clock throttling? Its not inconcievable if that feature was removed to save money.

My card has that features with standard coolbits being unlocked..

I cannot find anything on ASUS site about it.
If anyone is wondering I have the ASUS V9950-5900Ultra.

I'm not sure what is going on.

No autodetect or 2d/3d ocing option. :(

You Might try the futuremark forums, Alot of tweakers there who probably have the card, you're gonna want to find other cards of the same type.

Does Asus have a forum?

Btw FYI, at 300 mhz 3d mine idles at 51C and 49C @ 250 Mhz, Even with the massive heatsink/fan on there, I dunno if your temps are that bad at all

I'm more worried about the clock throttling than anything right now.

I guess the temps are not to bad.

To use the registry entries, you need to locate the text file you saved them into and change the .txt extension to .reg

Then right-clicking the file will give the merge option.

Here's the registry file that came with my FX card. It is slightly different from the ones earlier and appears to work with 45 and 50 series drivers.

---------Begin File nvtweak.reg ----------
REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\NVTweak]
"CoolBits"=dword:00000003
"QuickTweak"=dword:00010020
--------------End File------------------------

Look here. On page 42 it shows a Asus tweak utility.
It does not seem to have a 2d/3d feature on it.

My card is oem so I got no software with it.

EDIT: Here is what I've found. The Asus Smart monitor is the tweak tool. "OCing tool"

It only let u run the core to 460 and memory to 870.
But there is no 2D/3D settings on it.

So it seems Asus did away with clock throttling. :)

My card only runs 40c at idle and 56 at full load.
There cooler seems to be very good.
