I recently purchsed windows 8 oem because I changed my motherboard and cpu. I noticed that if you make major changes to hardware in windows 8, there is no option to reactivate the copy like in winodws 7. I also had to buy a second key at $40 when it was on special when I 1st added a second ssd to go raid when I had a amd system. Anyhow, I wanted to share my observations with you guys. With windows 8 pro, you can pretty much do everything you can do in windows 7. WIth windows 8 non-pro oem, there are some restrictions. One, you can't name your own workgrouip or domain, it's greyed out in this version. In windows 8 pro, no problem. Another PITA with win 8 non pro, you can't permanently disable devices in device manager. Windows reactivates the devices without you knowing. With WIndows 8 pro, no problem. It feels like a starter edition of windows. I like diaabling the nvidia hd aiudio since I don't have ithe pc connected to a tv or monitor with speakers to free resources.
