Anyone know ANYTHING new about them? Both S3G and XGI has been awfully quiet since september....
Well.. XGI has released the sam info over and over again... but that doesn't count!

Dig.. any new news on this? Heh, im just commenting that because this has happend before, small companies allways have trouble getting products out the door, they usually just dont have the resources.
But i do belive that XGI could have their product out the door soon, because the shots we have seen look pritty mature and defiantly ready for production.
Also i have a very pestimistic attittude from hl2 and doom3 delays!

Are you aware that XGI is not exactly a samll Company?
It is the Graphics Division of SIS Spun off and Combined with Trident Technologies. The Two Merged to Form XGI.

I know that some reviewers have some boards for sure, but I don't have one. :(
I also have it on good authority that the boards will be available to consumers before this month is out, so I'm expecting some reviews to be coming any time now. :)

As far as I have heard, both S3G and XGI have had quite massive finacial backing from their VIA and SIS friends... Right now I take both of them more seriously than Matrox... :)

In fact, Trident pulled this last year with their XP4 graphics chips which were never released.

U know I was wondering what ever happed to that chip.
We saw ads and all but no chip.
I guess by the time they had it ready NV and ATI was so far ahead
they just dropped the project.

Stealth That was never released becuase they were Aquired by SIS to form XGI.
Trident is not as big as ATi or Nvidia but they were pretty huge back in the day. They are well known for their 2D and Mobile Cores. Simple but effective.

Actually I disagree with this. So does XGi. They have stated in more than one interview that you *have* to have competative products at the high end to the low end to gain the attention you need to make an impact.
There is no way they can Wait to launch. It has to be this Quarter period.
You guys appear to be making assumptions without having read much about what XGi themselves are saying. In the End i suppose you guys could be proven Right if they botch this. But.. I currently don't think they will.
They appear to be poised to launch very soon.

I though you dont belive 'press hype' but in both cases, they are the new kid on the block (even though their companys are old) but in the 3d game market. We have been hearing about the DeltaChrome forever, then they did a big thing at IDF, and now we are back to nothing again, will they suddenly get these products to market, histrory tells us no, but they could suprize us.

Well, XP4 was hyped up in Summer 2002, and supposed to be released in Fall 2002. XGI was formed early this year I believe. And nothing was ever said of what happened to the XP4. Although it has obviously become the lowend VolariV3. However, that hardly excuses the wild claims Trident made saying the XP4 would be 80% of a gf4Ti4600 and 70% of a r9700Pro and then basically just disappearing off the face of the Earth.
And the card still isn't out, almost a year later.
