Halospy is an independant app that handles server browsing and adds a bunch of good stuff like Favorite servers, launch parameters, etc. Saves 'em all so you don't have to type in server info each time you want to go there. Sounds pretty cool; I haven't had a chance to test it yet, but I'll give it a shot when I get home from work.

Here's the linkage. (http://funky.halocity.org/)

Am I the only one having problems with Halo's gamespy internal browser? Half the time it errors out trying to refresh the list and the other half it times out when I try and connect to a server. It works, but intermittently. And it's very annoying. :(

I haven't experienced any problems with it, personally. Sorry I can't help you out.

I don't know what's wrong with the All Seeing Eye...just thought I'd offer it as an alternative. I haven't tried anything else other than Halo's internal server browser, but I'm going to try HaloSpy because it looks like a well written piece of software. I'll check out the ASE as well.

That's OK. On the bright side it does work it just requires some prodding and patience on my part. It is annoying, however.

Seems like I always get the rotten luck when it comes to things like this. If there's some strange fussy little bug in a game or other program that most people don't experience it almost always comes up with my systems. Bad luck I suppose. ;)

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately the game itself will still need to make the connection to the host server and since it's flakey as hell for me this utility cures only half my problem (master server refreshes will not be an issue now, just connecting to hosts).
