Thanks. It seems promising with older games, but it really got crushed by Halo and the rolling X2. I know everything takes a bit of a kicking from Halo, but....
Still, improvements are bound to come through. I hope they're able to do a good job with it, but by the time it becomes available I'll probably (hopefully!) have my hands on a 9800 Pro that will have cost me less (if Tom's estimated price is accurate.)

God damn it!!!
XGI gave Tom's a bloody card to play with and I still ain't got my grubby mitts on one yet? Something is seriously wrong with that!
Also no AA and AF.....beta drivers.....
MUYA
Why did XGI even allow THG to post results using these drivers? Why not wait a month or two?
And posting benchmarks with no AA/AF this article is more of a NVIDIA commercial than anything else ;)

Close, but I think you should make that "to keep ppl interested till a now much delayed launch date?".
I think XGI has realized that their drivers ain't ready for primetime and they need more time to work on 'em...I don't expect them to launch this month anymore and I'm getting kind of doubtful they'll make it this year. :(

Really dude? I was not aware that they had slipped launch dates etc. Hmmm if that is launched around the time Nv40 and r420....then....well safe to say they will be DOA. :(
I do hope they get their driver ready asap. At 130nm, and 80 million transistors for the volari v8...they should be able to crank that up more...then again, their duo design PCB is already complicated and cranking up the MHz might not be a good idea...hmm...ah well. Anyone know when Deltachromes are gonna start popping out the fab oven?
Cheers

Don't take it as gospel, I'm just speculating here and as a matter of fact I haven't heard from XGI in weeks.
I just don't see how they plan to get the product out the door within the next 3 weeks if they still don't have the actual production boards and the drivers are VERY raw betas. :(

Although I highly value elitebastards much higher than tomshardware I think that you overestimate the impact of elitebastards on the enthousiast community. (Talking about size not about quality)

With that I agree 100%
Beyond3d, the new [H] etc. would have been much better choice.
and offcourse EB:D

Yeah, B3D or even [H] would have been a bunch better....Tom's just pisses me off lately WAY too much.
(Actually I'm a little too far behind right now at EB on reviews, I shouldn't whine. ;) )
Well... I'm dissapointed.
$300? For a card that is TARGETED to perform BETWEEN a FX5700 and 5900U? (According to other things read). You can get a 9800 Pro for $300, and way more performance.
Besides getting their drivers working right... they better price the damn thing accordingly or it's gonna flop.

Hey, it worked for ATI for the longest time.:rofl
Sorry, sorry, I just couldn't keep that thought to myself:angel:
Well anyway it does seem improbable that they'll be able to release the card so soon if those drivers really were the newest that they had. I mean, no AA? What are they going to do, tack on a super-sample AA mode right before it ships? And performence doesn't seem like much to write home about most of the time. Yikes those Halo number are horrible, I hope it's just a driver bug. The way it is now would be like trying to play Half-life 2 in full DX9 mode on a FX5200 card. It would make a good budget card, but for $300? You can get a 9800pro for that price now. Hell, you'd be better off getting a Parhelia, at least that has good AA and some nice features

I think the CEO's of Nvidia and ATI could write a better quality XGI review than Tom. :)

Tomshardware is mistaked about the price, the top model is not going to cost $300, it will cost near $500, see my attachment for the picture.
Well with all that benchmarks, the top model look alot worsen for $500, it will gonna flop plus FSAA not working, maybe it will never working with retail drivers.

If they dont launch before Christmas they are screwed. Its that Simple.
This Product this year is interesting. Next Year its a complete Disaster. Might as well take 50 million and Burn it in a Fire place. At least then you could use it to pop some popcorn or Warm your hands.

They sure are the card doesnt use msaa only ssaa (up to 4xfsaa). It af implementation is also weak, only going up to 4xaf
this is looking more and more xabre-ish every [p]review

$500 for a card that has worse performance (Targeted) than a $300 card, from an unproven company (Division), and unproven drivers???
ROFLMAO They're smoking something, then! :smoking2:
Might as well spend the money on a Matrox POSophelia. HEHEHEHE.
That's NOT the way to "Break into" the graphics market. The only reason Kyro II's sold was because of the price / performance factor, of the times.

Another Parahelia...<sigh>
That would be a killer card for $300 is the DX9 performance was higher.
:( Its their first card,,,

Well the more competition the more fun we get so its for the better , hopefully they don't go bankrupt :p and make more cards...

Seriously, though, there are some problems, IMO, with that review:
1. THG wrote it
2. The drivers are still beta and unfinished
3. THG wrote it
4. It was an engineering sample
5. THG wrote it
6. THG wrote it
7. THG wrote it
When the [H] tells me that the card sUx0rzZ, then I'll join in the moaning and groaning.
