Ive been following this game pretty closely, so this took me by surprise:
IN STORES: 12-03-2003

I thought there was no set release date??? According to this, the game will be IN STORES in less than a month

Man, I hope thats for real, I want this game soooooooo bad :D

Its real, but there is always a chance it could be delayed. The demo is due out soon, probably near the middle or end of this month.

Yup, that's the date they're shooting for, so it should go gold in about 3 weeks. I really hope they make it, I think by now they'd know if they'll be able to get it out on time or not.

And yes, I'm getting majorly hyped up for this game as well. In fact I'm currently replaying through Deus Ex to get back in the mood. Man, I forgot how amazing some parts of Deus Ex are, characters actually REMEMBER things you did earlier in the game! Like in the first mission, I killed a lot of enemies, and then a few hours later on another mission, your brother asks you to try and be more careful and avoid slaughtering as many people as you did on your first mission. And my god there's a lot of side-quests and extra objectives, sometimes I feel like I'm playing Baldor's Gate 2 again where I'm totally overwhelmed in things I can do. Hell, probably half that game is optional. I can't wait to see what DX:IW lets you do. Now it sounds like you'll have a lot more choices in who to side with, and you'll have a lot of freedom in the outcome of the game.

Bah, I NEED that demo! I need SOMETHING to tide me over until the real game gets here. For as long as Deus Ex is, I don't think I'll get a MONTH of gameplay out of it:)

BTW, did you know you can save Jock in the first game?

The demo is actually finished but for some reason or another they are going to wait a little while before they release it. Deus Ex is one of my fave games of all time, I really hope they didn't screw this up.

Long live Agent Denton :D

YES, actually, last time I played the game, I saved almost all of the good characters that were supposed to die.... Paul, Jock and the guy on the plane (Everett?) are the ones I remember the most.
What a kick ass game... Ive played it through 4 times since I bought it... heh, I'll never forget going to EB to buy soldier of fortune. When I saw SOF's $50 price tag, I looked over at Deus Ex (which I had never heard of). It only cost $30, so I reluctantly picked that up instead... turned out to be among the top 5 games Ive EVER played (Outcast, Realms of the Haunting, Shadowrun SNES and Blade Runner are the others). A month later, DX's price tag was $50 and SOF was down to $30...

I cant wait to play the demo... and I actually have a video card capable of running new games! YAY!

When you are about to leave Paris (you are at that guy's base.... cant remember his name, hes part of illuminati) in the helicopter, if you look around, you find the body of a man, and the "mechanic" attacks you if you ask him about the body (he killed the real mechanic). After that, Jock inspects his helicopter and finds a bomb, he disposes of it later.
If you dont kill the bad mechanic, Jock doesnt find the bomb and then he blows up during a later mission.. it doesnt really effect the game at all, but the characters in this game actually seem like people (to me), so it feels good to save a character thats your freind (like Paul).

Yeah if you don't kill the mechanic, then at Area 51 after Jock drops you off he says he's having trouble controlling the plane and then it explodes in mid-air. You never hear from again after that either way, but it's nice to know that you saved him.

And I agree, it feels nice making the right decisions. I save everyone I possibly can as well, and do every side-quest I get. And I like the way that everything seems persistant: if you go to a "restriced" area you're not supposed to, later on the higher ups yell at you for doing that. And if you barge into the womans restroom when someone is in there, she yells at you and tells your boss about it :D. Man, I forgot how fun the game is, and it sounds spectacular with my Vortex 2 cards (first order reflections, baby!). I think I'll specialise my character in low-tech weaponry this time, the rifle/hacker combo is unbeatable but I think it will be fun killing enemies with the Dragon sword :)

lol, I guess that's why I don't remember jock dying. I killed the mechanic the first time I was on that level. I like to explore the enviroment and talk to people. The mechanic was acting like he had a pole up his butt when I talked to him so I started walking around and I found the dead body and then I killed the bad mechanic.

I've probably played through the orignal game about 7 times total, each time through a little different from the last. I really hope they didn't screw up this one.

I didn't know it was possible to save Paul. I'll have to play it again soon and try again, as every time I tried in the past, he ended up dead.

I'm really looking forward to Invisible War too. Deus Ex was a very absorbing and atmospheric game. I remember being disappointed that Beth DuClare had been killed, and I always wondered if Nicolette DuClare was Illuminati given what Morgan Everett said.

I don't even remember how Paul died. Was it the killswitch? Or was it where you meet him in his apartment, and the agents storm the building?

<--- And yes, i'm aware it's ironic I don't remember how Paul died.

If you stand up to the MIB agents when they come to get Paul at his apartment he gets to live.Just stay there and let the agents shoot you and you'll wake up in your cell.At the point you previously found his body in the lab you find him live and well.He tells you he has some business in New York and that he'll meet you later at Tracer Tongs. After a couple of missions in China you'll see him at Tongs.

Preliminary work on DX3 (http://www.ionstorm.com/forum/viewthread.asp?forum=AMB_AP619612110&id=30273) has already begun;)

Thanks. I'll have to see how that looks.

We're due for a game that's going to be out on time. I know that Call of Duty made it, but I'd like another please.

Actually, DX:IW was supposed to be out at the end of LAST year. It's not that it wasn't delayed, it's that we caught up to the time it was delayed to :D
