After SP1 all games crash

After I installed SP1 all my games seem to crash, life SOF2 and Warcraft 3. I even did a re-format and it still is crashing after I put on SP1, anyone else have this probelm.:mad:

ouch, never heard of that problem. all i can recommend is make sure you are using the latest drivers. if that just doesn't work, just don't even bother installing sp1. sp1 is just the culmination of updates from microsoft's windowsupdate site. just go to http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp after installing xp, and just download the updates from there.

Although, besides games crashing to no video signal, I've also had it crash a few times while using IE since installing SP1. I first tried uninstalling SP1, and I think that broke other stuff because I've had problems with it locking up while using My Computer. Pre-SP1, I hadn't had a crash of any type since installing XP last October.

All I can say is: Don't install SP1!!!!!!!

Here is what I did. First, restoring from a point before SP1 did not do any good. Lots of strange things going on. All Quake based games started flickering (showing desktop in mid game).

So, I did a fresh re-install, then installed SP1. Next was the latest VIA chipset drivers (if it applies to you) and then sound card drivers - finally, the beta 40.xx drivers off the Nvidia site. So far, so good. All quake based games running great. After 1 week of gaming, no problem with any other game that I can see.
