ti4200 not detected in directx after installing new drivers.

I did a search in the forums but I didn't find any posts that described this problem. 45.23's on 98se. The one opengl game I have runs fine at full framerate but directx games say no hardware found. One directx game, aceshigh, doesn't try to detect and runs, but it's like 1fps. I reinstalled dx but still no joy. dxdiag directx tests fail likewise. So, anyone ever run into this before?

in dxdiag display section, make sure d3d acceleration is enabled by pressing the disable button. i had a problem once where it said enabled, but was somehow turned off, and hitting disable actually enabled it.
