Ive been looking and looking and which will be my next videocard. Im not working, so money is a little tight, and I refuse to pay 500-600 euros for a videocard. I was looking at the 9600pro, then came across the 9800SE 256bit @ 380/680 for 220 euros.

Good thing is the the 9800SE can be soft modded, it may or may not enable all 8 pipelines without artifacts, certainly worth a try for anyone on a budget like me :)

I told you guys this was a fantastic card.

In the UK, it's cheaper than the XT, and in some instances, it's way cheaper by as much as £30, but you got to look hard for them.

I found different results to Hexus, in that, I couldn't get a 9600XT to even match the 9800SE (stock), in ANY tests.
Actually, there were two tests, below 1024x768, where it pipped the SE by a few frames.

Out of the 20 odd i've sold, 12 softmodded perfectly fine. I know, I got one of 'em :D

But at stock, and overclocked (got them upto 420 core, 350 mem) there isn't an ATI budget card that will keep up with, especially at higher resolutions.

D.K.Tronics.

What board do you have on your 9800SE? Also what brand? Any way you could post a pic or two of your card that you soft modded?
