You read it right, it's over at buy.com (Linky (http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=10353405&loc=101&sp=1) )

Cost is $236.99 with a $60 Mail-In Rebate.

But I hate those mail in rebates. Have done that twice and:

1) With Altec Lansing speakers from MicroCenter. MicroCenter screwed up receipt and they would not send rebate. MC gave me new receipt, and still they didn't send rebate.

2) With Visiontek GF3 Ti200 from Best Buy: What was suppose to take 4 months took almost a year with repeatedly sending copies of receipts to the rebate company which kept misplacing them

If its not an instant rebate now, I won't do it. Mail in rebates in my opinion are big scam

Some people have had better experiences then me. Guess its a buyer beware kinda thing

I'm sorry to hear that your experiences haven't been good! :( I realize that this deal isn't for everyone, but for those who are looking to upgrade might be interested in this.

I was fortunate enough to receive all of my rebates. One thing I've always done was make a copy of everything that I sent in (UPC, receipt, rebate form). This is the best way to provide proof if needed to claim your rebate.

I hate doing the mail-in rebate dance, especially if it's a large amount like $60. You can buy this exact same card for $198 and free shipping at Xtreme Gear. The small price premium is far worth the lack of hassle associated with an MIR.

128-bit memory interface? 12.8GB/sec memory bandwidth? No thanks.

ya I tend to agree, I mean I gotta admit $177us is an AMAZING deal for a FX5900, but the hassel of rebates makes it such a turn off. Now I know people that did get there rebate checks from Western Digital and PNY, but then I've gotten burned by people like Verizon and the trouble to go back and forth just wasn't worth it for me. Like Saturnotaku said, I'd rather pay a little more to avoid any hassel.

That has to be a typo. Everywhere else it says the card has a 256-bit bus, and every single other FX5900 (even eVGA's lower-powered SE) has it.

Wow, your first post and you just registered. This compelled you enough to register just so you could say, "128-bit memory interface? 12.8GB/sec memory bandwidth? No thanks." Hope your not one of those POS who have multiple sign-on's just to dish out flame bait.

Back to topic:

I think it is a rather terrific deal if you are gonna be upgrading from like a GF2/3 or even a MX.

*Still contemplating 9800Pro 128MB vs. 9800XT... :thinker: :drooling:

Peace,

:)

His point was perfectly valid, whether it's a mistake or not people should be aware of it in case the card is a lemon.

Calm down...

John

The pdf says it has both 128-bit memory and 256-bit memory. :)

It has to be one or the other, it can't be both for the same product. I'm willing to bet it's a typo, especially because it looks like the card follows the NVIDIA reference design.

I bought one at $177 hope its a good card. I added nascar racing 2003 in for 15 dollars so I could get the $15 coupon off for spending $250.00.:D128-bit memory interface? 12.8GB/sec memory bandwidth? No thanks.

That does have me worried though I thought the FX 5900 went around 21
GB/sec?

128MB of RAM, and it does mention "with the industry's only true 128-bit precision processing" but that CERTAINLY isn't referring to the memory pathway. As far as I know, no 5900's of any stripe are under 256. Since they're mentioning it in conjunction with CineFX 2.0 I assume they're talking about 128-bit color and the like.

I got my card today by FedEx:) . I ran 3dmarks 2003 and auqamark3. They were a little better then my Radeon 9500 64 meg card.

Now for some odd things. With the N 5900 I seen things I never saw with the A 9500. In the nature demo you can see the shadows going though
the grass in waves from the wind blowing the trees but not with the ATI card. In the troll lair when the trolls hit the ground you can see the dust kick up and spread much better then with the ATI card. The ladies sword has a more smoke and flame from it to.

In Auqumark3 the explosions are better with colors going from the white to yellow and orange like in real life not with the ATI 9500. Also you can see the blue laser. Which does not show up on The ATI 9500. So if you need a new card and only have $220.00 or less to spend these 5900's seem like a good choice. If you got $320.00 I would say the ATI 9800 pro would be it.

I have yet to see a FX5900 with 128 Bit memory bus, They said it was possible but I find it highly unlikely.

Hey line did you find the cd key for Comanche 4? And if anyone gets this card dont install that car game, the damn game erased some windows files. This really is beautiful card though, that shiny silver heatsink is hard to beat. The more time I spend with it I am seeing its true power over my Ti4400. BF1942 DC maxed out is is shweeeet.:)

Sin the key is on the back of the CD sleeve in the smallest print I have ever seen.:) I did install that Racing game but not tried it yet so I will just uninstall it.

No to get the call of duty demo's:D And lockon Demo. I think we got us a pretty good card.:)

Your right about the power you sure cant go by some bench marks. I loaded up F1 2002 and set it to 1600x1200 4x AA with every detail on max
even in the grid walk though I was getting 22fps in racin it never dipped
below 35 FPS after the start. Also with fs 2004 I am getting 24FPS with it set to that with max sttings and ATC at 40% Now Im going to get a 2400 AMD for Xmas and call of duty and IL2FB and lockon and so Im happy.

Are you not familiar with the concept of the mail-in rebate? The ultimate cost of the card will be $177 after you get the check from buy.com (if they're in the mood of sending it to you).
