Amazingly, this was covered on a mainstream newssite. Rare, very rare.

Hillside Heartbreak
Palestinian Harvest Protected by Rabbis, Attacked by Jewish Settlers
By Courtney Kealy
A I N A B B U S, West Bank, Nov. 13 — It was meant to be a fruitful day. Rabbis for Human Rights had organized police protection and a group of determined volunteers to hike up a West Bank hillside and help local Palestinians harvest their olives.
Radical Jewish settlers claim the the hilltops above the Arab village of Ain Abbus as their own. Palestinians say the settlers have resorted to both threats and violence to prevent them from picking their olives. The settlers say God has called on them to settle there.
Ironically, it's another Jewish group — Rabbis for Human Rights — that often intervenes to help the Palestinians.
Founded during the first intifada in 1988, Rabbis for Human Rights is comprised of more than 90 Reform, Orthodox, Conservative and Reconstructionist rabbis and rabbinical students, all of them Israeli citizens.
The rabbis believe that their organization must uphold the Jewish tradition of human rights and teach moral responsibility and biblical concern for "the stranger in your midst," even if it means in the face of danger.
And danger is omnipresent. Just the previous week, members of the rabbis' group and other volunteers said they were attacked by settlers.
‘It’s the End of the World’
Arriving at the top of the hillside on this day, the rabbis and their group of volunteers were greeted by a shocking, unexpected scene. Hundreds of olive trees had been hacked apart. There was nothing left to pick.
All of Fawzi Houssein's trees had been destroyed. "Look at this!" he cried. "This is all my land. It's the end of the world."
While Israeli police took a statement from Houssein, a settler the rabbis suspected of being one of last week's attackers came down to watch. Members of the rabbis' group, which believes in nonviolent confrontation, walked away from the scene.
"The Torah that I read from says do not trespass, it says do not cut down the fruit trees," said the director of the group, Rabbi Arik Ascherman. "Specifically, we're taught not to act with violence."
..more when link followed.
So can anyone tell me why exactly we're funding behavior such as this?

Obviously those olives were going to strap C4 to theirselves and blow up a bus stop. Think about it 1stflight:p
I read that as Babies for human rights and was thoroughly confused... had to re-read it to get it right
lol...

Here is something to really think about: 1st shows more indignance at the destruction of an olive crop than the detonation of a bomb on a bus full of children. Granted the acts of those settlers were reprehensible, but not quite on the same level as slaughtering children, but in his eyes it is more newsworthy and unacceptable. Pathetic.

I dunno...
the indignance may be from the fact that the settlers are termed as civilians and have more rights than the farmers themselves wrt policing... from various reports the israeli police refuse to take action in situations such as these for reasons of jurisdiction...
terrorism is not a good thing but it is hardly a one-sided affair.. unfortunately the fact that 1stflight seems to be more than a little biased to one side seems to be held against him whenever he makes a point...
THAT is pathetic...
I give credit for a grave injustice being pointed out, regardless of who brings it to light. However, I still find it unacceptable that this person still refuses to condemn the killing of children, rather he seems to indicate that he feels it is justified. THAT is pathetic.

from your POV yes it would seem unjustified...
I don't doubt he has a bias towards one side v/s the other... however I fail to see how this is unacceptable...
you seem to fail to realise that there are children being killed on the other side of the equation as well... and condemnation is hardly what I gather from you when discussions come up on this topic...
effectively this implies that you are doing the same thing that you are accusing 1stflight of doing...
neither side is justified in its actions... that 1stflight does not take a pro-israeli view does not negate his statements...
I should say his VALID statements because on occasion he does make assumptions that are a little off-kilter  but I am sure you get the gist of what I mean :)

Why make this a issue against the left, you know full well "the left" does not support suicide bombing. Silence and Sazar hit the nail on the head with their posts.

There is a difference between targeting children and having civilian casualties occur during military operations that are aimed at terrorist leaders. I have said before that I pray for peace in the ME every day of my life. I do mourn the loss of all innocent life, especially women and children. The point of my post was obviously missed by Sazar. Silence, on the other hand.... Well, he and 1st can get some matching jackboots and march in a parade together somewhere, as their opinions on this topic so closely mirror each others that one might mistake them for the same person, save for the fact that one has such a poor command of the language. However, both have now implied that it is somehow "my" mess.

offcourse.....i knew you will have full understanding for civilian casaulties that occur during some unfortunate military operations.....
terrorrism is wrong and anyone doing it, or even supporting it should be shot.....OTOH, there are another forms of terror, govermant terror, ethnic, religious....whatever.....when views of one group are forced on the other....
you remind on those western socialists that used to go to Soviet Union to admire what was done there for the working class during the cold war....they would be shown hand picked workers that were forced to remember exact words they have to say....then they would see glorious factories and other great things done in current "Five Years Plan" (did you ever hear about that?)....
then..........they would leave "workers paradise" to teach ppl in western countries that western democracy and society are bad....
i mean...they did go there with their eyes opened....but they were shown just what they expected to see.....
propaganda is wonderfull thing........
and i hope that my "poor command of the language." doesnt offend you picky ears too much.....

As a rabid zionist supporter, you've inherited the mess. Enjoy
Btw, would you like some starch for your brown shirt? I hear the idf were needing some volunteers to go encourage more Palestinians to leave their homes.

You really need to stop calling him a Nazi. Especialy when it is Arafat who supported the Nazis. It is the highth of insult to call a Jew a Nazi. I personaly think it is reprehensible what you constantly do and say about people who support Israel.
