I have a PNY Geforce FX 5600 Ultra and the defult clock speeds are 400 GPU and 800 Memory. Im using the 52.16 drivers and it runs at 45C temp when exiting UT2k3. I decided to overclock the card at 475 GPU and 900 Ram. It runs better and i ran Ut2k3 for and hour and the highest the temp went was 58C which is ok and the game ran fine but it looked better in some maps. The thing i want to know is if im using this card at these clock speeds which are like 5600 speeds will it perform like the 5900 or am i just lucky. Like i said it runs fine but its weird that i have this card overclocked this high and still get good stability. Are these cards meant to be overclocked or am i lucky with this one?

Hi, i think what your asking is if your card is clocked at the same speed as a 5900 will it preform the same the answer is no.

Your card has a diffrent GPU, it has less preformance compared to a 5900 GPU clock for clock.

Howeever, that is a nice overclock for your card.

Nah it wont run at the speed of a 5900 because it's missing the 256bit memory interface
:(

Good overclock though! :D No card is meant to be overclocked, but hey, if you get a card that goes well with high clocks.. what's the problem? ;)

and oh yeah, like glowstick said, totally diff card :P

I know it uses a different GPU but it does perform better than it did and i use 4XAA and 8XAF in UT2K3 at 1280 960 with holly **** mode on and before i overclocked it it ran ok but it studdered and it doesn't stutter but lags alittle but that is expected when you use a FX with AA and AF at those resolutions in UT2K3. but what program can i use to stress this card to see if it really can handle these clock speeds?

You can use an artifact tester, or loop 3dmark 03... :p
That should really work ur video card! :D

What about sisoft sandra? and is 3dmark 03 free. Im very impressed with these clock speeds and it does look better also. maybe because the AA has more clock to work with and can render better frames.

I would go with 3dmark 03, it's kinda free. You can pay for it and get access to some of the other options in the program, but generally, yes it is.

go with 3dmark, i like it :p

I like this 3dmark 03, but its gives much lower scores than the 1 version. i get around 3250 in the score and i have AA and AF on 4x each and it gives me this score. Is this a good score? and i had to turn my card back down to 425 850 because of blue screens after exiting the UT2K3 game.

I would say 3250 with a 5600 U at 4xAA and 4x AF is an excellent score.

3dmark 03 gives lower scores than 3dmark 01SE, has DX9 and stuff in it. have fun

What's your rig like then? Cuz the only nv cards capable of that score @ 4x/4x is NV30/NV35/NV38... The 5900 I have does 3124 @ 4x/4x in a kt266a setup, 3334 in an nforce2 setup...

A 5600U @ 450/850 with a soltek nforce2 with 512mb dual channel and an XP1700 @ 11x200 (2.2ghz) only gets 2075 @ 4x/4x... 1901 stock...

3250's a 0xaa/0xaf score... the nforce setup with the 5600U gets 3232 stock, 3525 OC'ed... while on an XP1700 @1.91 (166fsb) it gets 3105 stock, 3498 OC'ed...

I use to think i got low scores in these benchmarks becase maybe im not doing something right but i have follow the rule of building a good gaming machine and ive built over 1500 machines in my day so i have good experience with tweaking and getting the **** to work together plus italk to the tech support of alot of venders to get good solid tips and tricks to get the hardware to work good with my windows xp platform. My 5600Ultra has good heatsinks on it so i overclock the thing as high as it can without heat issues and it works good but can be better. I wonder how the 5700 overclocks from PNY? oh well my rig is a ASUS board with GIG of Corsair XMS low latency platium ram and i use Maxtor diamondmax HD's with Audigy 2 Platium and it runs good but im not crazy about the AA and AF performnce hit that i get even with a good card with a fast CPU i get some lag in UT2k3 with 4X AA and AF .

you should be on top of Futuremark's users with a 5600u then. The highest score for the 5600U that futuremark has recorded is 3060 (patch 3.4.0)
amazing.

Ok, I've tried the new patch...

2978 (3rd place overall, all cpu's) with the kt266a/xp1700 @ 166 (1.91ghz)... too bad I only have the free version, cuz my submitted score (also a 3rd place... in cpu class... 2180-2240 mhz... 20th overall) is for the 5900/nforce2 combo (1700 @ 2.2, 200fsb), which got 4831...

Heh I'm just too dang proud of this old chipset (and cpu)... I activated its score... http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=1589661

 That's awesome! :D
However, im sure in 2-3 weeks when all those other crazy modders and overclockers get the guts to try patch 3.4.0 they'll be rippin it up lol... But 3rd place is awesome

Congrats! :D

I decided to overclock the card at 475 GPU and 900 Ram

Dont hurt to try here is my FX 5900 score to compare it.

Don't go by the marks though go by the games you play I just played the halo demo running 1600x1200 4x AA the lowest FPS i got was 23 inside the place where you have to shut down the map room so you can't go with bench marks all the time.

FX 5900 score (http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=1584970) :)

heh, I put the 5600U in the nforce2 mobo and got 3092.... #1!!!

http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=1592895

I also got 4389 outta the 5900 OC'ed in the kt266a chipset... also beating all others in my cpu class (1850-1950mhz...) ...

Yep, the hardcore ppl will soon eclipse these scores easily, but hey this was fun... :)
