View Full Version : FX5600XT versus FX5200 Ultra
Not that I'm buying either of these, but I was looking at the specs for both, and was interested... What do you guys think would be faster? I realize the FX5200 is a less advanced core but the FX 5200 Ultra is clocked *much* faster across the board than the FX 5600XT. I mean, the FX 5200 Ultra wasn't that far away from the 325/550 FX 5600 non-ultra, with the 230/400 5600 could the 5200U pass it up? I see the XT being priced at $99, and even talk of a 64-bit model... Possibly to replace the 5200?
Who wins?
FX 5600XT
Core: 230mhz
Memory: 400mhz
Bus: 128-bit
Pipeline: 4x1
vs.
FX 5200 Ultra
Core: 325mhz
Memory: 650mhz
Bus: 128-bit
Pipeline: 4x1

Based on those specs I can only assume that the gfFX5200Ultra will be the much better card.

OMG is NV trying to tarninsh the image of ATI XT cards or something by selling crap with the XT tag? They industry needs to sort itself out.

Some 5600XTs comes with 325MHz core and 550MHz DDR. Gainward has a golden edition that can hit 700MHz DDR . At that kindda speed, it'll be difficult even for the 5200U to compete. Not to mention 5600XTs might be selling even cheaper than 5200Us.
ya it depends entirely on that particular 5600XT, because Gainward obviously configured theres differently. But if the standard 5600XT has a mere 230/400, then I never thought I'd say this but the 5200Ultra would OWN it

If you compare the 3dmark2001 scores for 5200U and 5600XT then the XT is not doing very well. Maybe it is a way of nVidia to slur the XT brand name by a back door route :)
Neither of these cards are good in my opinion, not when games cost £30+. Better to save up for 9600/5700 or upwards.

I have a 5200 ultra from bfg technologies.
was able to clock it 379/810.
Added a vantec iceberq pro also.
It runs pretty good and I'm not sorry I bought it @ $130.
Will probably wait for nv4x till I upgrade though.

That's a good overclock and a nice price, maybe I should have said that it is not a good buy in Britain where everything is overpriced and the price gap is not enough to the next level of graphics card.
My 5200U does 378/768 so you have some good memory there !

Thanks zakelwe, :D .
I think its 85% good memory, 15% good cooling.
Should also say I used rivatuner and 52.70 dets.
I love my vantec iceberq pro  hehe
I'm quite sure thats what gives it the kick to
clock that high.

6000rpm eh
Actually I got the 5500rpm one, if you buy one
measure the distance between the pushpin holes.
One is 55 mm and (the one I have is 80 mm.
The 55 mm one is 6000.
I also used the copper mem sinks w/ the included tape and some
arctic silver ceramick lol
(I used the tape cause I seen the horror stories of adheisive and
removing memsinks
is it noisy ?
its extremely quiet :afro:
and the lil blue lights are a nice touch.
This place seems to be the best to get it from:
