Leadtek is supposed to be a quiet solution...as well as MSI's. I read somewhere the Gainwards was a lil noisy..not sure

It all depends on your definition of quiet. I have the Leadtek and I consider it very noisy. It's by far the loudest component in my system.

ahhh yes true, my 80mm delta fan for my HS is like a 747 engine on steroids and I think it take more than those HSF solutions to beat that.

Having said that is yours a boombom hsf or... ?

I did read according to several websites it was a quiet solution the leadtek boombox one. Also it was said to be designed in a erm...wind tunnel or something like that?

You could always buy a separate cooler for a the card. Arctic Cooling makes an excellent quiet cooler for Radeons and Zalman has a few solutions you might like.

The asus makes no noise at all. ;)
I've never had such a quite fan setup on a card.
It does not speed up when in 3d. It always runs one speed.

Personally I'm not a big fan of the vertical molex connector as it causes problems (unable to close case) on small form factor PCs. But since the 5900 Ultra eats up too much power to work properly on shuttle xpcs anyways I guess the molex connector is the least of it's problems on SFFs. But their 5900 NU has the same molex design. Anyways for this reason I prefer the molex connector to point towards the back of the card.

I've seen FX 5950 cards running on SFF systems without any problems. But yes, the vertical molex connector should be parallel to the card.

I have the PNY FX-5800 it's actually the same as the nVidia reference design, it's not noisy as it's ultra brother, and it's able to overclock easily as a Ultra at 500mem 1GHz core. So, depending on your casing ventilation, u won't be able to hear the slight whinning of the fan when it's running heavy load, but every boot up, there will be a short whin when post screen of the gfx card bios is shown. after wards, all is as silent as a cat, the thermal throttle will only kicks in if your card hit a extreme high temp, which I have yet to experience. But commonly heard from those who might have a bad ventilated case that the thermal throttling constantly kicks in with their FX5800. So, for my POV, it's really not loud if u want to know what is loud, then the FX5800Ultra is indeed loud.
