I saw a pic of a aftermarket 5900 ultra heatsink fan combo by coolermaster at a site that had coverage of cebit I think, the front was similiar design to the 9800xt. I can't find the pic. Anyone know if it was ever released? Or any aftermarket 5900U heatsink/fan cooling?

There is no listing on there website for one.

I wish someone would make one.
My asus may only use 1 slot but
it sucks on cooling. :(

I've been wondering about that with the ASUS ones, since one of the only one-slot 59xx solutions I know of. Any idea if the VGA Silencer (http://www.nordichardware.com/reviews/cooling/2003/VGASilencer/) works on it, or can be made to? Turns it right back INTO a two-slot solution, but I think it would be a lot more effective than what you have now.

Well my 5900 Ultra died today so I don't have to worry about the loud fan anymore heh. Gainward said they are going to replace it with their current 5900 Ultra with the dual fans which is much quieter. http://www.gainward.com/c-1.html?id=97

It is a single slot, also chaintech has a single slot and Asus has a single slot 5950.

BTW I heard that VGA silencer is compatible with the 9500-9800 and geforce 3s only.

XFX FX 5900nu takes up 2. I just want to know why on earth they make them to take the pci slot next to it? There must be a reason though.

The reason it takes the pci slot also is because the HSF assembly is pretty big.

Hey badash, that pic of the BFG you posted is a double slot......

VGA Silencer does state that those are what it's complatable with, but considering all the hodge-podge cooling enthusiasts pursue out there, I figured SOME people have been checking out what the can accomplish past "recommendations." ;)
